My first DYNO...what gives!?

Alright, I went to watch a newly juiced Mustang GT pull this morning. So while he was jacking with fuses/minor leaks etc., no one was in line so I figured WTF. It's a 2K SE w/36k miles. I have an Injen intake and WarpSpeed Y-pipe, that's all performance wise. Why I am so sad? Does this totally are only partially suck? 173.3 HP @ 5925 RPMs, 182.8 ft/lbs @ 3850 RPMS. ABP 28.95, intake air 79.3 degrees. Time to tattoo an "L" to my forehead?

While you have done a couple of power adding mods you have neglected to do an important one and that is changing the B-pipe or put in a complete Cat back. You've freed up flow before the cat and the B pipe is now a major bottleneck.
With 36k on the car you may want to clean out the throttle body and have your injectors cleaned. I'm not an Injen fan but your numbers should still be better, doing these things should bump your numbers up some. In a perfect world with the mods you have you should have around 200-205whp. Freeing up that rear exhaust will make a difference.
Good luck.

Unfourtunaley yes for the 3.0 autos its normal. The 6spd puts down atleast 40 more whp stock then a modded 3.0 auto. Now I have to wait AGAIN, to get mine. Stupid banks, refinancing takes too damn long.

Thanks folks. MM777, I plan on completing the exhaust by Sept. I'll give it another try then.

those numbers seem pretty inline with others dynos. the most ive seen a 3.0 auto with all the bolt ons and lighter wheels was somewhere a few hp under 190. freeing up the b pipe will help but dont expect anything over 3-4hp if that. i assume they did the pull in 3rd gear? id clean the throttle body, check the injen filter to see if it needs replacing or cleaning and even pull the plugs and check them. i just replaced mine at 30k with coppers and the plats were already in pretty bad condition. no unusual wear but im glad i changed them when i did.

I have a question. WSP sent me the wrong B pipe for my 2k2. It was 2 inches too short. Could this be a 2k or 2k1 B pipe? If it was, I'd be willing to sell it for very cheap.

From what ive seen/heard from others its a waste of money. Just wait one of these days stillen will release the headers. Til then just get a bad@ss system and rims.

stlkcdc: The filter on the injen is too damn small, trade it out for a larger filter or just get a FrankenCar.

Or the better intake over those two, the ghetto air box.

i cant answer about the y pipe because of its design but the b pipe has to make some power even if its only 3-4hp. there are two bad crimps which one of which has to constrict it to around an inch. after blubyu2k2 had his y pipe put on, he pulled better than before but then again the different conditions could have played a part too.

I'll be the b-pipe test pilot. I may just drive the 3 hours down to Warpspeed in the next couple of weeks and have Dallas fix me up with a new CAT and b-pipe. Then I'll dyon again and see exactly what is what. My guess, 2.5-4.5 HP gain. But hey, if I can gain an edge on a KIA vehicle than weel worth it

Thanks strange because I bought a used Budget bpipe from my friend who has a 2001 SE. It fit perfectly on my 2k2. I havent dyno'd the car yet, still waiting for headers.

Dyon on a stock 2k auto is 162hp, stock on manual is 177. looks like you made some pretty good gains. You also must remember that the maxima automatic has a 27% power loss from the crank to the drivewheels. The manual is 20%.

Thanks E55AMG2. If my math is correct then, that gives me about 236.9 HP at the crank. For a 2k AUTO, I guess it's about right then. Still need more of course!

Well, it's hard to tell without looking at your dyno. But I'm betting they didn't run it to redline.

Your peak HP should not be at 5900 rpms. It should be at redline.

As for a 2k manual - in third gear the stock dyno is more like 190 - which is about a 15% loss and typical for a manual tranny. My best stock run made a few hp over 190 at redline. With a Y and SI it gained about 10 hp.
