suspension like a boat

My maxima rides like a tuna boat! I bought some sprint springs that will lower my car about an inch and a half. As for the shocks, can I just go to an auto parts store and get new ones. Or do I have to get certain shocks that will fit with the lowered springs. Info would be great. Aaron

Well most likely the parts store will sell you Monroe shocks and they aren't the greatest. There are three shocks that are usually bought for our cars:

Tokico: a little bit stiffer than stock. They go for $300.00 shipped from either shox.com or stillen

Kyb Gr-2's: A very good replacement at an excellent price for about $220.00 shipped I think from www.foreignautoparts.cc

Koni: Great shock from what I heard but a pain to install. They go for like $500.00

Thanks, Kyb Gr-2's seem like the best deal.

don't go Monroe. My old Max a '93 GXE was in a minor accident before I got it, and the body shop put on a Monroe. The thing had less than 15K on it and it was already leaking - bigtime. I put Tokico/Eibach on that car, and it was (still is) awesome.

Dont every think about getting cheapstake shocks , I highly recommend you to go more than kybgr2 , KYB-gr2 is great deal and you can get one for 180 shipped at www.taylorautomotive.com.
