you go to the same track all the time? might just be that track... as a rule tracks should be more grippy than the street HOWEVER there are times when this isnt the case as in this situation.

If you have pulled a 2.1 at the track I dont think that the street can compare to that. My guess is sometimes you might me getting to anxious and be messin up. I cant say it doesnt happen to me. I got tons of adenaline when i pull up to the line.

yup...same here
its very very easy to smoke first gear and a bit of second at the track...launching off of idle

on the street its still possible, but you have to put some effort in doing it.

even the 4th gen auto's have bad traction problems at my track...
i actually launch a lot better on the street than i do at the track.

I have the traction problem at both tracks I go to. I have pulled 2.1X's at both however.

Maybe my car has a lot of power for some reason, considering I can hang side by side with a 4th gen running 10 lbs. of boost, when I'm in race trim.
come to my track and that'll turn into 2.3's haha
i assume you have a 5spd? in which case you're running within the average...judging by your 1/8 mile time.

the boosted guy is just running really slow...hehe

Don't worry, I'm still 1 second away from you.Until I get the 5 speed in.
Are you really able to pull 2.1x out of your auto? That's pretty awesome, best 60' I've heard of from an 4th gen auto without forced induction or slicks.

Temps were in the 90's.

You east coster's have it easy with cold days, downhill tracks, and nitrous air.
why are you always trying to make yourself high and almighty?? OK OK ur car is fast at trap speed of 88mph .

update your timeslip in the timeslip forum...you have old times there

but seriously, if you're launching 2.1X's...there is absolutely nothing wrong with your track

other than JIME with slicks, no one gets launches like that at our local track.

what is your 1/4 mile time?
your 1/8 mile time is pretty fast...

if you're keeping up with 5spds...then whatever you're doing..keep it up

I think I could get better 60's if my tires just didn't spin as much. My 60's are usually at 2.25 at that track.
That timeslip is against irvine78, fully modded 5 speed 5th gen. That's about a typical 60' for the maximas here.
oh...darn...
its just coming up with that red X for me...i can't see the timeslip

could you just tell me the ET's and trap speeds of both cars?

i guess my computer's messed if everyone else can see it

Andy,

Your traction problems are strictly due to lack of track maintenance. Fontana does NOT take care of that track on the nights they hold the ricer drags. They don't prep it b/c they want it to be "like" the street. In my personal experience, Fontana is slicker than the street.

I can't say much about Irwindale though. But, I can say stuff about Fayetteville Motorsports Park in North Carolina... they actually take care of their track. I do the hardest torque brake I can and I can barely get a chirp. At Fontana, if I do that same torque brake, I will run a 2.7 60'. NO joke, I will smoke them. And as for you, you have WAY more low end that I do.

Come to Vegas, I guarantee on a decent night, you won't be able to chirp the tires more than 2 times on the launch. It takes off my shoe when I walk on the track. Especially, last Saturday, I was bracket racing my car at Vegas and I couldn't chirp my tires. Nor could I chirp my tires in my 1-2 shift. At Fontana, my car torque steers sometimes during the 1-2 shift.

So, it's strictly due to track conditions, quality, and maintenance. The entire time I was at Fontana, I smelled VHT once the entire 6 hours I was there. In Vegas, you never stop smelling it. They lay it down every round.
