Would you switch from a s/c to a turbo?

Would you switch from a s/c to a turbo?

Would you start all over again provided the kit is a good fit?

No... I wouldn't want to deal with the heat issues and turbo timers (esp. with a MT). Not to mention the timing and fuel maps.

Is it because you can't park in gear? Other than that, I don't see what the downside is with a TT.

Boost with a S/C is predictable and doesn't vary like a turbo (spool up) where exhaust, intake (somewhat), wastegate adjustment, Boost controller adjustment all affect it. Ignition timing for my 10psi hasn't been a problem (I don't think my J&S is exerting itself).

Yes, actually I am. I guess the whole linear boost thing just wasn't what I was looking for. Car never felt that fast even though it was.

So the SC is removed, and I'm in the process of getting/building a turbo.

Screw the SC, Screw the Turbo, what we need is a good roots blower. Predictable AND full boost at low RPMs.

How about getting a 6-71 or even an 8-71 blower on the VQ?

It'd require a bit of welding and some modification of the hood... "Minor" details.

After riding in both S/Ced and Turboed maximas, I would take the turbo any day. The sound and midrange power is incredible!

I was driving next to my friend turbo and his spooling just drowned out my sc when we were running side by side @ full boost

Torque is much better too.
I can second that.

I rode along in both a turbo and SC'ed 4th gen. I believe both were running the same amount of boost, but was two completely different experiences.

I just depends on how you like it: good and hard, or nice and gradual.

wait.......... you know i'm talking about boost, right?

Hi, I'm 16/virgin/female and will be buying a used Maxima when I get my license. When you say "know you're talking about boost", what do you mean?

If their was a turbo kit available when I got the SC yes I would have gone with it. However now that I have the SC and its VERY fast anyways its not worth it to re-engineer my car nor is the money worth it. Leme put it like this SC@14psi+35shot=Turbo@14psi.

If I already had an S/C and I had a buyer for my S/C waving cash in my face, I would consider switching, depdending on how much more I would have to spend for the turbo kit.

Maybe you should try and get a drive in a turbo max to help your decision

I know that you dirty dog. I was being lazy, SC in my post = Vortech V1/V2, aka only SC kits out for the Max.

We all know a Roots type setup would be killer on a Maxima. Or at least the V1/V2 with a better gear ratio for quicker spool up. Damn the dirty dogs at Stillen/Vortech, damn them to hell.
