shoulder harness covers invites for mockery?

i went to a speed shop and saw a pair of nice looking "powered by nissan" race-looking shoulder harness cover pad things. i did not buy them. they're factory looking with the logo and all. but is that considered like totally gay?

to go that way, wouldn't it be better to just replace the whole seat with recaros or something race? or rice? whatever?

Go to the track, if you get anything below a 15, then you can have them

Well, if you get like black ones and you have black seat belts, I dont think they look too bad. But dont get ones that stand out wayyyy too much. Basically, its your car! Do what you like and dont listen to me

these are dark blue. dark. like navy. my belts are black. there were red ones next to them, but i would so not get those. perhaps they would be less stupid than putting stickers all over the car. they're in a speed shop in little tokyo in LA. i actually liked them. i mean, the car is literally 'powered by nissan.' so i would not be falsifying anything - like people who stick GTR badges on their cars, ie, the maxima does not deserve that.

they're only 15 bucks a pair. so if they look stupid, i'll just return them.

How do they look when your automatic seat belts are forward? You know, like when it's parked? Do they just stay there, suspended in mid-air?

Actually, I think they would look just fine, but I don't want them in my car because every ******* in a 116 hp "GS-R" Honda Civic (or lowered 89 accord with a 4-cyl automatic and 18-inch wheels) will want to race me

Red92MaxSE,

yes. they would stay there suspended in air, as you stated. if that looked too dumb, i would unclip the belts and lay them in the seats. i actually do that often anyway, as i hate getting into the car with those gawd**amn things, especially if i am carrying something into the car.

as i think through this, my initial reaction upon seeing them was "hmm. those are kinda cool. they're not tacky flashy sophmoric juvenile looking." and i could see them with my car. i have just never on any forum or car show been aware of the "fashion police" regarding such things. so this is why i went on here to get feedback. i suppose i initially feared chastisement or mockery from "purists." but now, as i think it out, i know it is my individual tastes that guide me, and **** what haters think.

i think they will look nice. i cannot recall anyone sporting them. maybe i can start my own local fashion statement. when i get them, i'll take pics of them and post them here. with that, we will really see the reactions flying.

and if the 4-banger civics come out, bring 'em on.

Well I have black/charcoal grey interior and I have always been interested in the harness pads that say "Nismo" in cursive. There is something else written below, but I have never seen them in person so I couldn't say what it is. They look 50x better than those "Powered by Nissan" IMO. I would probably have bought them, but I don't see the reason to spend an extra $50 on those. I have actually seen a member put those on their door handles.

i bought them. they are black with the 'powered by nissan' line with red and blue hamburger logo on white field stitched onto black nylon. when parked, all that is seen is the black part, barely noticeable to most as they perfectly match the black interior. then when the automatic belts move back, the logo reveals itself. they are pretty cool, really. they are a nice and catchy, yet not overstated, adornment. my car is lowered so they make sense. they were only 15 bucks.

i saw the cursive nismo ones, too, right next to them hanging on the display wall. but i thought those looked weak. those would look better if the actual old-school nismo logo was larger, as it is in the bottom corner, too small to be seen.

i will work on posting pics of mine.

tnismo91, if you want the cursive ones, those are there. i can check on a price for those. i doubt they are 50 bucks.

I wouldn't mind the black Nismo ones, since I have black leather. I've seen some sentras with a royal blue "powered by Nissan" and I thought they kind of stood out too much.

I like to keep my car free of logos or stickers. That's the one thing I hate about my car -- the dufus that had my Max first put some gay pinstriping on it. Not only that, it's a very expensive painted on harlequin (sp) pinstripe, not the tape kind.

yes. typically, i hate invasive and tacky stickers and logos. but i want something symbolic on the car. a GTR or SE-R badge is kinda gay on a maxima. i even contemplated an SE badge from a fourth or fifth gen. but i lost interest in that, too. i like a sleeper look. a clean almost stock look. but these shoulder pad things look pretty cool to me. i used them tonight as well. i'm more snug feeling in the cockpit. they're really no big deal. a sort of sublte treatment that enhances just enough to remain understated.
