Meguiar's Scratch-X rocks. (pics)

Hi all~ my first post here...

Before

After

it is hand-buff and still visible from an angle. I believe machine buff will be even better.

some fckers scratched up my friend's CF hood... you think it has a chance w/ that stuff, or is it bad for it?

that's a great job you did on your car. Was it keyed?

you gota be careful when doing this though. These types of products the remove scratches are abrasives and may do damage when not applied properly.

thx guys for the compliment. even though it is still visible....but it is much better than before.

nadir : I dunno if it is keyed or someone just dragged their purse/bag along my car. the whole thing is long. from my rear quater panel to the front door. now the scratch on the panel and front door are not visible. only the one on the rear door is visible.

about your friend's cf hood. I doubt this will work because it needs a paint based surface. you can try it on a small area first and if your friend doesnt want to spend 7 bucks on it, I can give you some.

Someone said that the stuff will work on Glass!? I haven't tried it but I have tons of little specks from driving in Cape cod and just little rocks. The glare is unbearable. Has anyone tried it on glass?

this is what I did....
wash the car and dry it
clean the area with mcguire paint cleaner
apply small amount of scratch x in a small area to test it
buff it in circular motion
let dry then apply some wax to protect finished surface.

We just started selling this in like a gift pack at my work, circuit city. Don't ask why. It has scratch X, quick detailer wax, tire gel, car soap, and one other thing. I might have to get some.

Peace - Chad

just some update....I washed my car this past weekend and seems like the deepest scratch on the attached photo above showed up again. (but not the light sratch on the quater panel and front door.) I use the sratch x again to buff it out while I was waxing my car. seems like it is not invincible.

but I am still happy with it

Exactly what he said. There is a number associated with it, but basically only one kind of rubbing compound. This is really abrasive stuff though and I would keep it away from the paint.

The Meguire's scratch X is meant to be applied by hand. Notice how it doesn't say hand or machine use? I tried applying it with a PC and it didn't do jack. Only made a haze where I used it and had to go over it with the 3M polish for dark cars. It works pretty well by hand though, but doesn't have lasting power.

Actually 3M makes many, many subtle layers of polish, and at least 3 grades of rubbing compound, ranging from light to medium to heavy cut. Usually people just use a good metal polish on chrome but I assume you'd want nothing stronger that Fine Cut for polishing metal.

It can be used on paint too if a swirl remover or something lighter isn't cutting it (pun intended). Do NOT confuse this stuff with the "sandpaper in a tub" Rubbing Compound that Turtle Wax sells in the red container...

guys from experience i can tell u that the meguilar scratch X works on surface scratches and swirls...meaning not too deep...if deep you need rubbing compound or touch-up paint at that point..
