H&Rs?KYB GR-2s just installed...

Hey fellow Maxers,

Just installed H&Rs/GR-2s this weekend, what a difference! Nice aggressive look, the ride is comparable (but a bit firmer) to stock SE, impact harshness is a bit higher on BIG holes, but I feel much more of the road (this mod actually improves steering feel, its hard to do a mod that affects steering feel!) Looooove it!

Kudos and a BIG THANKS to njmaxseltd for his assistance on the install. He's got a shop in North Jersey to do the work, makes for a much faster install. If you are thinking of a spring/strut install and within driving distance of Bergen County NJ, check him out!!

Also, in hunting down the parts for the install, I ran into a wierd problem of a national backorder by KYB on the left front strut, 10+ weeks before they do a run for 5th gen Maxs! I have found a source who claims to have PLENTY of left front struts, so if you are thinking of going this way, check out: http://www.partsamillion.com/Maxima/
Price is OK, but not best, perhaps we can talk him into a group deal if enough of you are interested!

I'll report back again after a couple of weeks after alignment and runs on a bunch of country roads I know...
Enjoy the Ride!

Niice!! I just ordered the same setup for my 03 and am awaiting for it to be delivered. njmaxseltd was also very helpful in advising me what to choose.

how much do GR-2's go for anyway?

Are they cheaper than the modified KYB AGX's?

At the moment I have HR's but no aftermarket struts and I'm kinda
leaning towards the modified AGX's so I'm just curious as to why you
chose the GR-2's.

congrats btw

MUCH cheaper for GR-2s vs AGXs. I was thinking of going with AGXs but since I don't autocross any more, I don't need adjustability and the GR-2s are as stiff as a setting of "2" for the AGXs, plenty stiff for me.

Anyway I got them for about $330, rt front and rears from Tirerack and the left front from partsamillion. I would highly recommend this setup for most folks if you are looking to firm up your ride for street use.

Haven't been out here in awhile...I'm looking to stiffen up the ride without lowering (for the moment). SO, who makes these 'GR-2's and where should I purchase from? Can I expect the handling to be more crisp and maybe take some of the floatiness out, even without installing new springs? Currently have RSB and FSTB on my 2001 SE. Appreciate anyones' input. Thanks.

Well, guess I had a brain freeze because after I submitted my questions, realized that KYB makes the GR-2's...apreciate answers on the rest of my thread. Thanks.
