Holy crap... My maxima looks hot enuf to sex... seriously. I have pics I'll post next week, this is the first time I really detailed a car. I used a porter cable polishing wheelm medernza intensive and fine polish, and s12 wax. Man, saying screw my discrete math homework and doing something like this basiclly re-energized me, I feel like the man now : ] hahaha. God damn, i wish i had the pics to show you guys now, yall would be proud of me!!

Deja Vu

Man, I did the same over the weekend...on my black 2K2, no less!! I just got my PC polisher and used that Menzerna polish. It made a huge difference! I went with the Klasse AIO and SG. I'll be posting pics sometime this week....(be patient 92 SE-R)

I didn't think there would be that much of an improvement in a car that new.

Very nice!!

I just bought a bunch of Zaino stuff. ClayBar, Z5 (scratch and swirl remover), Z6 Gloss Enhancer, and Z7 Car Wash. Should be here tomorrow.

Wednesday if it isn't raining the '02 will be getting a very nice wash

i was using the machine for near 6 hours.. I guess I will perfect a technique... I was exhausted by the time i was done... And getting the excess wax off was a ***** too... Good thing I had a garage, This would've been impossible outside

A garage is good where you live...not only for waxing but to protect your HID's! I use mine too...for shade when waxing. Yeah, it takes a little bit of practice with the PC. I should have pics tomorrow night...if it's not raining....

Damn that looks good. Nicely painted calipers would really set it off (maybe a medium blue or fire engine red). Let us know how well the wax holds up, durability wise. Seeing that pic kinda makes me want to do mine (but it's white, so it doesn't have the same drastic effect).
Once again, good job (PC makes it easier, doesn't it? Now I gotta sweet talk the wife...)

thanks for all the comments guys, I feel so proud of the car heh. I haven't ever thought of painting the calipers, I did do grille inserts, which managed to rust up a bit already! I'm going to do the whole polishing deal once a month I think, and I will wax each time i wash the car. Hopefully if this rains chills out, I can wash it once every 2 weeks?

how hard is a PC to use the first time? How long should it take to do a Max after the first few times of practicing?
I REALLY dont want to screw up my paint job, but I have light spider swirls I want to get out myself.

hey, i was real worried about that too... You cannot mess up your paint with this polisher. It doesn't really compound the paint. What it does is it osciliates at very high speeds, but doesn't have the friction or heat a heavy duty type of polisher would cause, which makes them dangerous in the hands of newbies like us. It was real hard on my hands, so I recommend you use gloves because my hands are all screwed up covered in blisters... I over did the wax a bit, that takes practive... I would say it's safe to give it a shot without worries, you won't get rid of deep scratchs, which i have quite a few of... What you will do is fill them in a bit, hide the swirls, and if you go over enough times with Medernza intensive polish, the surface will look near perfect, with the scratchs hidden. They say on the site (properautocare.com) this alternative to compounding is the only practical way to keep a car looking good, without investing in bodywork, or rubbing away at the surface, which is actually bad for the life of your paint job.

Go for it man, best $300 I've spent on the car yet, I wish i did this when i first had the car! My friend's GTI doesn't have any scratchs like mine, since he has always done this for the life of his car. Chips are unavoidable, but this will make your car mint, i promise that. I recommend medernza products, s21 wax, and the PC 7242 to anyone. Also get the orange wheels, and plenty of microfiber towels. good luck bro.
