How good are rebuilt trannies?

My dealer just called me back and told me my car will be needing a rebuilt transmission. I took it in for the 2-3 grinding problem, the problem was there all the time.

My question is how good are these transmissions?

There is still hope since they will be setting me up with a rental tomorrow, I thought Nissan didn't give rentals.

I work as an engineer at a transmission reman facility in NJ. Remanufactured transmissions are held to tighter specification and quality control than OEM, such as detailed testing on a transmission dyno. I wouldn't worry about it chances are you got it from us. Ask the dealer what reman facility it came from and also what the serial number of the unit is and Ill try to get the QA sheets including test info for it if it did in fact come from us (Aftermarket Technology Corp, ticker id ATAC)
