I need some help, car isnt running right.

OK, maybe someone can give me some help here...its about my moms car not mine. 5th gen maxima (2K) auto- when she starts the engine and its cold (in the morning or not been used for hours) and puts it in reverse it will hesitate and shake (the engine) and needs a little gas or it will stall out. What could this be, I havent looked at the car at all and havent noticed this prob when driving it, but thats what she says. I know its not ATF, maybe a misfiring cylinder or bad plug? But then that would be all the time. Once its warm its all fine. I dont know whats up with it

if she isnt throwing a cel, then i would start by cleaning the throttle body and see if it improves. if the problem still exists then pull the plugs and check their condition. if the car is past 60k then i would just have them replaced. nissan says 100k for the plugs but even my dealer recommended it before then. go from there and post again if that does not cure it.

I'll check the plugs tonight. It's under 60k, but its in the 50's. And there is no CEL on.

CEL just tripped on it today...she's taking it to the dealer in a couple days, should I pull up ECU codes myself to see if its anything?

Take it to autozone for the ECU codes...It'll save you $70-80. I hate to say it, but the problems you're having sound very similar to what I'm going through. I had my ECU code read today and it was P1320, bad ignition coil. Ugh.

stay with NGK

if you dont mind spend a bit more...get the plantium and they are 20 dollars apiece in regular auto store and you prob. can get cheaper at courtsey nissan.

if you dont mind change and regap your plug often (i.e. every 10,000 for regap and 20,000 for replacement) get the copper plug, cheap as hell...1.59 apiece.

both are good and do not skip a heat range.
