trade my 2k2 max 6 speed for...
If I could get an amazing deal on a low mileage 1993 C2 cabriolet, aproxmiatly 38k miles on it, gorgeous, not new granted, but an amazing car (Unfortunatly automatic). Would you guys think this car 'could' be a daily driver. I love that thing, I won't even list the reasons why I like it more, other then the fact it's a porsche. I think I would require around 10 grand cash, and the difference of my max. The problem is I live in NY, and I'd need something for the snow.

yea that definatly is my only regret about the porsche. I'd say this though, it would tear my 6 speed max a new ******* anyday of the week : ] Another consideration, the maintenance on those costs a lot!
Anyways, as far as that last comment, you should see a ruff stage 5 porsche. Porsches can be very, very fast. I think you would be better off with a lingenfelter ls7 for that race : ] I have driven both 946 and I own the 2k2 6 speed. The automatic 1993 946 porsche (with tiptronic) is quicker and faster, trust me on this. My point wasn't to get a faster car anyways to drag race it, I just happened to love the thing.
porsche 946 :
The capacity of the famous flat six engine increased to 3.6 Litres. Gained twin spark ignition and become the most powerful normally aspirated 911 production engine with 250 bhp and 310 Nm of torque at 4,800 rpm, 0-60 coming up in just over 5 seconds and a top speed of 162 mph

indeed it is a nice car, but i think you are over come by lust and not weighing out everything. but hey man. your money, your mind, your life = your choice
I can't fault you for wanting the C2 - it's just a sweet ride, and as for being older, well, it's a pretty timeless design so you'll still knock off plenty of eyeballs
As for winter, can you scrounge up a grand before bad weather hits? Assuming the answer is yes (and it better be if you intend to maintain ANY German car!), there are all kinds of decent winter beaters to be had for a K or less. I even bought a no rust '88 Accord LX, running great and working a/c for like $350 at an auction one time. Bought a Prelude that ran awesome for $250...point is, you'll be able to locate a decent enough winter car for cheap if you just look in the right places.

Man, when I get back to the states I am def getting a 928, a dream is a dream, as far as the daily drive, bad move. The C2 is SWEEEEET but the bottom line is cost. The car is getting to the prime maint. age..rubber seals and belts need replace, service get's more costly. If you have the money do what makes you happy, cause like I said I am getting the 928 even though it will prob be a money pit but it will be worth it to me.

Cobra = Supercharger
Now, what is the reason for getting a 10+ year old Porsche? I dont think its everything you're going to want it to be. Hell, I wouldnt trade my moms car for one and shes got a Taurus.
I think the majority on this board is saying pass it up, wait til next time. If you really want it, you'll get it, but I think you'll be happier renting a new Porsche and having one hell of a weekend while keeping your Maxima. Food for thought...
Good luck with the decision making
Jonathan
Call a porsche dealership and ask what the 50,000 mile service would run on that car. Then inquire about a set of brakes. Man that car will own you unless you have deep pockets. Even through an independent mechanic, service can get astronomical pretty quick.
nuts? no. I just wouldnt give up a taurus and more money for a 10 year old car.
if handling is your thing then sure, get the Porsche, but I personally would go for a much newer sports car in the same price range
