Auto's do mid 15's to mid 16's on average at 86-90mph, and 5spds so high 14's to mid 15's at 89-93mph on average.

That would probly run even with a stock 5 speed. Doubtful though.

i think on average, auto's run about 0.7-0.8 seconds behind manual 4th gens.

an intake and ypipe will not be enough to keep up with a 5spd unless its not driven properly.

yes its worth it to add mods to an auto

The VB Mod does not shift as fast as the drop resisitor mod (free courtesy of mtmtg) which I use. Even with that a manual is faster than an auto with no mods. But, the quicker you get the more efficient the auto becomes against it and I believe at some point the auto becomes faster with the same HP, somewhere around the 13 or high 12 second 1/4 mark.

Probably get lots of arguments on this but thats my theory and all I race against are manuals 99% of the time. There is only one AWD Talon that beats me out of the hole and he runs mid 11's.

The drop resistor is located on the front of the drivers side shock tower. Its about 3" long and about a 1/2" in dia.

There is a connector and two wires, one in and one out, just cut either wire and instant full line pressure on the transmission or just pull the connector if you want to try it.

It is not for part throttle use, its super fast and bangs into gear. I did have mine hooked up to a switch for the track until Zumble came up with the idea of a WOT switch which is what I use now so it only works at WOT.

The wire came off on me a couple of weeks ago at a race and with a 35 shot it took about 3 seconds for it to shift from 2-3, I could just feel the clutches burning. I would not race without this mod.

Do a search there is lots of info, pro and con on it.

Sorry about your tranny but you won't convince me the drop resistor broke it. I have done this on both my Max's and race both and when you run 12's its much harder on the trans than stock so its getting a work out. Many folks use it very sucessfully.

a lot closer. I raced MayhemI30 and he has a 96 Infiniti I30 auto with full catback, y pipe, intake, VB mod, and 3100 stall something. I have intake and y-pipe and I was on 17's. it was pretty close. I beat him a couple times, he would beat me. I am also not the greatest driver. So im sure a great 5 speed driver would still take an auto with the VB mod.

Does anyone combine the VB mod with the drop resistor?

Love the VB... The Auto can still use more improvement.

The VB Mod shifts at a higher line pressure than stock but the drop resisitor shifts at full line pressure so you can't do any better than that.

For everyday driving the VB Mod is the way to go but for all out racing the drop resistor wins hands down.

So, probably you could use both and have the best in both conditions. I can't see where they would interfere with each other one is a mechanical mod the other is electrical.
