What's a good CD that will show off your system??? I'm mostly into rap in the car...Wondering what people listen to when just chillin' out in the car.

digital underground - the humpty dance, slick rick - bunch of songs, biggie, etc. mostly older stuff for me. a lot of 2pac's stuff has tight production.

I can't stand people that drive around "showing off their system". Nobody needs to hear what you're listening to but yourself.

I respect your opinion, but if that's the case than why put in aftermarket systems at all...why even have anything better than stock...what's the point of putting 600W into your trunk...of course it's so others will hear...if it was just for yourself you wouldn't be putting in subs and amps and all the good stuff into a car...and once again that's your opinion, I respect it, but there's others that will agree with me.

I'm all for high-end systems and electronics. If you enter shows or something with it, great.

My real question is, why do people feel the need to make others hear your music?

I totaly agree with you. If I ever blast my music it's when no one else is around. I play the music I like for me, not for the drivers around me. I think it looks soooooooooo stupid when I see some little punk sitting at a light, blasting Ememin in his Cavalier while bit of rust fall off on to the road.

My system is nothing special, but it plays loud enough to make my ears hurt.

That said, I dont blast for others to hear. My system in the car is for my enjoyment.

In the car right now:
Nine Inch Nails - Broken
DJ? Acucrack - Sorted
Leftfield - Leftism
Marilyn Manson - Golden Age of Grotesque
Lords of Acid - Voo Voo U

But I listen to Sirius satellite radio most of the time (Fox News or The Vortex)

Recently, I've been on a "classic rock" kick - AC/DC, Doors, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Hendrix.

You have to understand that rolling down the windows and blaring your music for strangers to hear is a cry for help. It’s like graffiti on bathroom walls, pierced eyebrows or green hair. Such people are pleading to be noticed. They have low self-esteem. They’re calling out, “Please notice me, I am somebody. I am not insignificant.” Professional help is the only answer.

By writing a post like that you're basically judging me without even knowing me...it's not like that, I don't play it for strangers but if I do listen to my music loud with windows down, i'm sayin' that what you listen to does say something about you...and the thread started out with me wanting to see what people listen to when they crank it up and it became like a poll: "Do you crank up your music when driving around town with windows down?" YES...NO....that's not what I asked...but I guess I had it comin'.

i have 2000w feeding my system and YES i do play it loud. i wouldn't
have spent almost 5g's on my system if i didn't like loud music.
most days i'll play it loud, so loud i can't hear anything, not even
my own car (has exhaust & cai). i don't roll down all the windows,
only the drivers and sunroof and i also turn it down at intersections
to be courteous. it's all personal preference. my pet peeve with loud
systems though is rattling, if a guy rattles louder than he bumps
i wanna take a sledge hammer to his stuff. 136sqft of dynamat fixed
my problem :-)

I blast my system every now and then, when i do its mostly Tupac, og Ice Cube, Snoop. For rock i listen to Incubus, linkin park, a few punk bands here and there. Not to forget BOB Marley, just puts me in that summer/beach mood. My backseat passengers love the back massage ;-)

hmm...type of music i listen to depends on my mood. but it's usually some r&b , trance, and some hip-hop. also listen to local and sports news.

and as for why i got my system? i love music with good clarity both in bass and treble and everything in between. and i like it kinda loud, but not loud to the point that people will get annoyed by my music.

i have mp3 so i just keep adding but there are too many songs that i blast to name, but what i normally throw on is camron, dipset, jay-z, d-block, eminem, biggie, tupac, mostly gangsta rap, well today's east coast style gangsta rap, not that NWA type stuff...

And i blast my music cause it keeps me awake and the vibration feels good on my back. I also like to see people stare but i feel awkward at times when i catch eye contact with a broad cause it makes me feel like i'm trying too hard

Besides my Cerwin-Vega speakers, I don't have a system. But when I cruise around, I turn up Linkin Park (Meteora), Nine Inch Nails (Pretty Hate Machine), or Disturbed (Believe)

I have a loud system, and I did not get it to show it off to other people. Why the hell would I want to show off my rattling trunk Maxima? I just like loud music while driving sometimes. If someone wants to drive around blasting their music and showing off, then thats all them. BTW: I find that many Big tymers/Little Wayne songs bring out alot of bass, along with Eminem.

I have problems and I want everyone to hear that on my 1100W system I play:

Trance mix CD that I made
Si-Sé - Si-Sé (pretty good ambient/latin beats band from NY)
Radiohead - Hail to the Thief
Coldplay - Parachutes
Coldplay mix CD
Radiohead mix CD
DJ Irene remixed CD by DJ JesseO
and that's about it...

For those that hear my sounds on the streets of SoCali, thanks for listening to my problems

Right now...I'm listening to some Mos Def and Talib Kweli songs. Mos Def - "Umi Says", is an awesome song to listen to while cruising.

Apart from that, its some reggae/dancehall and Indian music (both oldschool and new songs..as well as classical).

I got the stock BOSE system, and its more than enough for me.
