OT: May trade Max for Titan

I really diggin' the new upcoming Nissan Titan. I may trade my Max for a Crew Cab next year. The reviews in C&D and Motor Trend have been good and I love the unique bed rail system that Nissan will be using. What do you all think of the Titan?

Let's just say you can smoke the tires all day long. And you won't have any troubles with your addiction to speed if you trade the max for it.

Yes, 350 Hp / 380 lb-ft torque. Dodge Hemi eat your heart out.

I love Dodge trucks, but this is an absolutely awesome vehicle (the Titan). I would buy one of those in a heartbeat, even IF/WHEN they put the HEMI into the Dakota (like I hope they do). Nissan is going to give the domestic truck market a SEVER rude awakening, and I love every minute of it!

Hey there Mopar-head!!!

Yeah, not bad competition finally. Funny thing you should mention the hemi in other vehicles...I find myself wondering more and more about the Magnum they are supposedly coming out with as a 2005 model. I am holding off on trading the Max until I see that. Utility of a wagon with a hemi on tap....hmmmmm.

I looked but could not find where these numbers are published. I would like to see this as well as where in the rev band this power comes on....this could get interesting.

I am loving the titan and how it has enough power to compete with the domestic trucks but my only problem with it is that from what I've already seen the quadcab bed is tiny.

Yeah, the full four door version chops a full foot off the bedsize...down to 5.5 feet long.

Very likely or at least there should be one out by someone very soon.

I just hate those things. Give me a real 6.5 foot bed ANYDAY. I like having cargo within a closed tailgate and not hanging through some kind of metal hoops/basket/whatever you want to call it.

I looked there and found some rev band info, but it still looks like the hp/tq are estimates.

Don't forget the Chrysler 300 will be a RWD HEMI and (IIRC) a Mercedes V6 (probably the 3.2L, same as the crossfire). Should be interesting to say the least...

Yea your right may be estimates, because it says "over 300 hp and over 375lb tq...........sounds like the domestics finally have some stiff competition, which is great since Toyota missed the mark with Tundra falling short at least in size/ towing etc.......

Unless these figures are subject to the 'VQ Inflation' syndrome!!

I know what you mean, they should atleast have an option like chevy/gmc does where a customer can choose if they want a long or short bed.

I was wondering this too but we all know that Nissan is the Japanese Torque King (Just like Honda is the Horsepower King). The truck currently is rated at 300+ hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. I expect the final figures to be about 310hp and 380tq but adjust for the Nissan blunder curve and the truck will probably have 300hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. If it were a Honda you could just flip those numbers around.

What Toyota Tundra missed in size/towing- It made up in reliability
and RESALE value- I'll take a TRD package on that anyday- TITAN looks
mean though!

You should see it on it's 18s. Sweet! And although some of us in here aren't really off-roaders, the 4x4 package is stout. Rancho shocks, skid plates, all sorts of goodies. And like I said earlier, you can restripe a parking lot with all the rubber it puts down.

And the endurance engine is HUGE!

FWIW, the August 2003 edition of Motor Trend says the Titan will have an estimated rating of 350 hp / 380 lb-ft tq. I love the innovative bed rail system that Nissan is incomporating into the bed.

I can't wait!

No, they estimate the test truck has 350hp using the butt dyno. Nissan states 300+ .

Whats the third bed size? MT says the King cab will have a 6.7' bed and the crew cab will have a 5.7' bed.

I have always thought of a real bed on a full size as being 8 feet long. Will they offer the extended cab with an 8 foot bed? Ford has the option, which I like.

If you are referring to plywood sheets, I agree with you. However, I was thinking more of riding mowers, ATV's, etc. fitting comfortably in the bed with the tailgate shut, something my mower would not do in anything less.

The interior will probably blow the domestic truck market away. This is going to be a fun little "war", and one which Nissan could really make a serious name for themselves in the large truck segment. God I hope they do this right...

If they do, that means we'll all reap the benefits of the entire industry trying to best each other, year after year. "IF" Nissan really does it right and pulls a large share of buyers from the domestics, then there will be a lot of "supertrucks" forthcoming...

300bhp or 350bhp

Most Magazines, and Nissan says the 5.6L Endurance engine will have 300+BHP, but Motor Trend estimated it at 350bhp when they tested it. I think that is because they also tested a new Ford F-150 with 345bhp on the next page, and acceleration times were similar. So they assumed the 5.6 DOHC unit had about 350bhp...

Its all estimates/guess work until the car goes into production, and then we still don't know because of the 15bhp debacle with the 2k2 and 2k3 Maxima...what ever became of that? Johnvt1111?

I hope the truck does have a true 350hp but the way Nissan has done their hp pre-release figures lately would suggest it wont. This thing could easily be the most powerful NA V8 in the entire light truck market if they wish it to be.
