New 2003 Max

Hi there,
I'm new to this brd, and new to the maxima. I currently don't own one, but will very soon. My grandma is looking at buying a new 2k3 maxima, and will be giving me her old 4th gen max.

So before going to visit the dealer**** w/ my grandma i was wondering if any current 2k3 or 2k2 max owners had any tips for what to look out for. is there anything u don't like about the max? (big or small), some feature u don't think is good enough or just in general anything negative about the 2k3. Also looking for some positive aspects of the 2k3.

i just want to get some prelim info down so i can actually help my grandma decide and so i don't have my head up my *** when we go visit the dealer****.

thnx

Good luck finding many to choose from. The SE is the best value. You can get them for 23k out the door. The GLE is you loaded flagship, a couple more dollars. IMO the GXE is not for consideration. Either way you go the '03 Max is one heck of a nice car for 2?K!!!

Now grandmas want to drive the 2k3 max? Please let her buy another car or you get the 2k3... she has no reason to be driving a 255 HP Japanese sporty automobile that I drive. One word for her - Buick.

do NOT pay more than 2000 under invoice!
ex. invoice is 23,000, you pay 21,000 or less!

edmunds.com for invoice pricing.

the 03's will be scarce, dont plan on getting the car exactly(color, options) as you want it.

go to nissanusa.com, click on buying, and select 'design and locate'. you will find dealer's inventory for your area.

the max comes well equipped so options are good only if you need it. me, i must have a moonroof.

watch out for the things they will attempt to sell you, window etching, more alarm, waranty, etc all rip-offs! just decline.

doc fee ($45) and tire fee ($5) are legitimate.

if i were you, find the dealer which has the the max you want. contact their internet/fleet manager and tell him you are willing to offer 3000 below invoice. if he declines, say 2500, then 2000. i guarantee the 2000 will say yes.

check out carbuyingtips.com to more assistance.

you can email me if you have any q's.

ah ha...the help from everybody is indeed much appreciated.
my grandma probably wants to get a maxima since she already has an older one. and the uncles say that it would be too hard for her to get used to driving a car from another company(stupid if u ask me)
but to Maxxxed i dunno how old u are but it don't sound like u are much older than 30( i may be wrong)..so the question is more like where the hell u get money for a car like a maxima? because to me a maxima is a higher end car...far above the civic and focus that all my twenty something friends are driving(and can only afford).

??? I'm 24 and I have a 2K2, pretty much loaded. You don't have to be rich to drive a Max...An S600, yes, not a Max. $2x,000 is nothing for someone over 30. Maximas really aren't that expensive, esp when you compare them to other cars with similar performance/options out there.

wazzup ThaChinky, yeah I am 23 years old. I am about to graduate from college in a month. Seriously, you don't need a lot of money to buy a car like maxima. All you need is good credit history. In my case, I have 23K in student loans, no job, but based on my credit history, I qualified for 23K loan from Nissan at 1.9%. I have been responsible with all my credit card payments and other accounts, so I have good history. Also, the car industry is dying to sell cars so that could've helped me get the loan. In any case, it's not too hard to buy a car, especially in this environment.

PS: If you live in Western NY area, and are looking to buy a Max, I can hook you up with one. The dealer I know will let you have the car for $2000 under invoice. If you are student about to graduate, you'll qualify for an additional $500.

your grandma would probably prefer the GLE over the SE given its softer more 'buick-like' suspension.. plus she probably doesn't want to bother w/ putting in aftermarket stereo, leather, etc & the GLE comes with all that
