5th gen shift points?

I know 5th gens have better top end, does anyone know the most effective shift points on a 5th gen? At what RPM does the power die down?

Thank you.

With my auto anyway, I get it as close to redline as possible. I'd rather keep my variable intake open as long as I possibly can to get maximum power...

Redline redline redline and redline. The optimal shift point is actually above redline but since that's impossible at this point redline is where you need to shift.

As calculated by CarTest...

1-2: 7600
2-3: 7000
3-4: 6900
4-5: 6600

The VQ30DE-K has the same problem that a lot of Honda's do. The peak power is all the way up at redline, so you can't make full use of all of the power that's available since you normally want to "round the hump" so to speak and keep the revs centered about the point of peak power. The 00-01's would be at least a few tenths quicker if they had some more revs to play with, because then they could make better use of all of the power that's available.

So anyways, the optimal shift point is just before the rev-limiter kicks in.
