went to buy 4th gen

Went to Haberstad Nissan the other day to see what 4th gens they had. I had been told over the phone that they had many in stock. Unfortunatly when I got there I was told all they had were 5th gen that were off lease. The sales guy showed me what other cars he had including a 97 pthfinder with 33k miles and a 94 lexus sc400 with 40k miles. I cna't decide whether to wait for a 4th gen or look into the pathfinder or sc400. Anyone have any opinions?

Now, why would you go to a Maxima forum and ask Maxima drivers whether or not to buy a Maxima? YES YES YES go for the maxima, it wont let you down.

Yeah, wait for the 4th gen, but also stay away from that dealer. They lied to you just to get you to the lot. Who knows how much they're willing to lie to cinch the deal.

don't forget the SUV fad is over now - it's sports cars, or more fitting for the Max - sport sedans !

the sc 400 is a great all around car. my dad had one with 110k miles when he got it. its a great crusing car, extremely smooth, great handling, not overly fast off the line but moderetly fast up top(very heavy car). very comfortable but almost no back seat. the car lasted perfectly with no problems AT ALL except dash lights, until my 17yr old brother got it when my dad got a company car, that car was a piece of **** within about 6months. still ran smoothly at 150k but with tranny problems(brother) electrical problems, power seat, alternator(maybe brother)

it was a beautiful car, class stlye luxury

i still liked both my maximas better 90,99

good luck

if you want a 4th gen wait for it. dont look into those other cars just because they were there. you will be kicking yourself in the A$$ for a long time. dont jump into a decision like buying a car, it will come back to haunt you, i promise.

and like someone said earlier, dont go back to that dealer, he tried to pull the old, "bait and switch" on you, screw him, find a more honorable dealership. but dont get a pathfinder or an sc430 just because its there. take your time. but the lexus is nice and reliable, but no aftermarket, and not much you can do with it, other than cruise

well said, the sc430 HAS NO AFTERMARKET aside from wheels and tires, most people with the 430 wish they had the V6 version 300 so they could (twin?)turbo it .

I had been looking for a 97-99 Maxima for some time when I came across
a red 99 se-limited at the dealership. It had everything I was looking
for in a Maxima. The only thing it didnt have was the 5speed that I had
been killing myself to find but I can always do a 5speed conversion
to it. My advice is to take your time and look for the right one
it may take awhile but in the end youll be glad you did.
