20 or 35 % Tint All Around??

I was wondering what everyone thinks gives a more stylish look. Tinting my 99 Black SE-L all the way around with 20 or 35% tint? I don't really want to attract attention during the day, but I want it to be dark at night.. any ideas?

Is there laws against certain tint? My friend just got 5% all around and i would still go darker. However, im the kind of person who likes tint you cant see through even when you place your face on the window...

I'd go with 35%. Where are you from? In MA where I live, legal limit is 35%. At night I think the 35% looks dark, and you do not want it to be too dark because you can't see, obviously. Also with 35%, you can't get in trouble(depending on state law). With 20%, you risk trouble(?), and from what I have heard is kind of harder to see at night.

it all depends on the in your area... ask friends who have tint if they get bothered. Ask the shop if police are known to ticket for it. In NH it's illegal to tint the fronts so I got 50% (35% in back) because police and inspection places notice (so I've heard) and 50% is better than none (IMO) but I didn't want to pay to put on 35% and have to take it off.

20% all around, you will be disappointed with 35%.

Yup, i have 20 in back and 30 up front. I wish I had gone 20 all around but it all depends on the police in your area.

Noo.. dont mix %s front and rear, it looks stupid.. 20% will look better on a black car, but you are a lot more likely to get a ticket for it, assuming you live in a state that dark tints are illegal.

Go 20% all around. It looks better that way, and still is not too dark. 35% is too light IMO. Here is how 20% looked on my car:

I'm sure the hundreds and hundreds of maximas here look stupid with different shades of tint in the front and back.

Legal Limit..

I live in Jersey.. I'm sure a bunch of you's are from NJ. I used to have 5% limo tint on my Mustang, and used to get *****ed at from the police constantly. I know a few people with Lexus', BMW's and VW's that have tint all the way around, and police don't bother them. So I was thinking the classier the car, the less b*tching you get from the police. But I know any tint on the front windows is illegal.

Hey not trying to start a war here but I think its fukced up for you to say that that's an ugly car, at one point in time that was a real nice car and I think it still is. How would you feel if a year or two from now someone says look at that ugly old 4th Gen?

I think that is his car so im pretty sure he can say its ugly

I have 5% tint all around and it looks good from the outside, and I love the fact that when im next to someone at a stoplight they try looking in at me but cant, BUT, it is a little hard to see out @ night so i wish they had like a 10% or 15% tint but 20% is probably the closest?

Trust me on this dawg, go with the 35% because the 20% is just too dark IMO. I believe our cars come from the factory with a very light tint on them stock (someone correct me if I'm wrong on this) so when you add 20% it just makes it look even darker than what 20% is supposed to look like without prior tinting.

I think 35 is fine for our cars.

That's what I have heard...but it is only 95% with that tint, and counts for even less when you tint over it.

Well, 1st off, it looks like I have a lift kit...hahah -

you know those times, where you look at your car and say..."damn that looks good"

and then - "gawd that's ugly"?

Thats an ugly pic of the car, but good tint pic

if you have a dark interior, get 35%, if you have a light colored one, then 20% is the way to go

and if you're gonna get a ticket, make it a good one ...

maybe because anything darker gets too much attention?? Ever think of that? And if darker is illegal the you're just throwing your money away when they make you peel it off.

You're right. The only reason I have 5% is b/c I live in Las Vegas. And none of the cops enforce it b/c it's SOO freakin hot. Today it was 118, proceeded by several weeks of 115+ degree heat.

I grew up in NC and there is NO way the cops would allow anything darker than 35% to pass inspection. Cops would pull you over and make you strip it right then and there.

20% at night is nothing. You can see everything. I got 5% and sometimes it's difficult to see out. Especially when i'm rolling in my dark neighborhood, I have to look out my windshield or just roll the window down. But it's SO worth it. My car is cooler during the day, my AC doesn't work half as hard anymore, and it looks so sweet.

Anyone here from NYC, i would like some opinions of people from the NYC or Long Island area.
Cops seems to be giving tickets for every little thing now.

well when the cop walks up to you, make sure you have your windows rolled down

35% is very see through. i hate looking over at someone w/ tint that i can see through and look at there ugly face lookin at me. 35% only looks not see through if you look at it from certain angles, like if the suns blairing off of it for example

Personally i got 5% but it can be a little dark at night when there aren't many lights on the road or in certain neighbehoods

put atleast 20% unless your over 40 years old or got catteracts or glucoma or sumptin else

IMHO ofcoarse

lol, yeah. I wanted 20% for the same reason as OHANNON7.
But, i know of a lot of people who got a 90-120 dollar ticket for having 20%'s.
