Hey guys, i met up with zach last night to check out his car. Here are some pics of our cars at the track..

It was funny how many people were checking out his car because of his kit then they look under the hood and saw just stock max.. The kit is sweet though.

Here is a pic of when i raced zach. We both ran 15.6's with 2.3 60's but he beat me by .05 sec.. damn him....
Although i crossed the finish line first...

And here is when i raced a blue civic Si
I had a reaction time of .599!! and killed him off the line and on the track. I ran 15.9 to his 16.3

It was a really fun night especially since we both got really good times

Damn, he has a nice car! Holy crap, the color of his car+the body kits lines+the blue bulbs make that one hell of a picture!

Just wondering: were you shifting your auto manually, or letting it shift on its own? Either way, a 15.6 is pretty good

Ha ha, i was waiting for someone to say goodjob!
I manually shifted a few revs before redline. That way i hit my next shift nice and firm. Plus our 60's were pretty good but could get even better. So im hoping with y pipe and better 60' to be the fastest auto 5th gen max on the board eventually... Mingo watchout...

Nice job!

You got to beat my 15.47 too. Mine was not stripped though. I'm going out to the track this March to see what I can do to take care of Mingo.

Probably won't be much different if you have the VB upgrade. With my new solenoid assembly, my shifts seem to occur a bit higher now.

i just have one question about that...i had a later r/t since that was my first night at the track i still hadn't completely learned the lights yet...i got .05 seconds better than adam, but my speed was about 5mph less than his...i just don't understand this...the entire length of the track we were neck in neck and we crossed the finish line almost exactly together, but if we were the same speed the entire length of the track, how can my 1/4 mile speed be 83.x while his was 88.x? just wondering

HOW MUCH IS THE VB UPGRADE...NOT THE LEVEL 10, THATS OVER $1K I'VE HEARD, BUT HOW MUCH IS DON'S...AND HOW HARD IS IT TO INSTALL YOURSELF? alright, done yelling...but nobody will ever say how much his are...i know he's not selling them currently, but it sounds like a really good purchace

Dude, you ran a 85.8 mph not 83 but it was still 3mph slower. This could have been caused by the resistance from your kit or because your friends deflated your rear tires too and should have or you may have let off too early. could be anything. We can run again when you put in your intake and i got my Y pipe..

Ohh ya i forgot. Dons mod is about 450 bucks plus install if you cant do it yourself. Rick from altimas.net can help us out though. He lives down in casa grande. He had the purple altima on NOS at the track. Runs 14's on its new engine He blew the first one... I think if you hit your shifts right manually that the mod isnt nessesary just yet.

Tell me your guys secret?

I just wanted to see how fast my Max can go and my first time at the drag strip. How are you guys doing it? It must be reaction time....my really suck but hey, it was my first time....

Friday nite and my last run...all the previous runs were 16.22 or lower but couldn't break the 15 second mark...the run before this one really was bad by hitting the rev limiter.

time: 2/2/01 8:42PM

Reation time: 1.085
60 ft: 2.487
1/8 ET: 10.348
1/8 MPH: 70.20
1/4 ET: 15.963
1/4 MPH: 87.22

I really want to know how you guys can get the 14.9 stock. The only thing I'm running is the stillen filter charger (might be the reason). Are you running the stock airbox?

I started off with O/D off and in 2 on my auto and shifted into D position at around 5800 RPMs.

It was a wide-eyed night since it was my first time. Blew away ALOT of nice looking honda civics and accords that night and my co-workers modded accord which he had a Swapped-in VTEC engine with Japan Spec electonics. Even this BMW 323 2.5 coupe wasn't a match!!! wwwooohhoooooooo! What a night. I don't know how many of you guys go to the drag strip but WHAT A RUSH!

REALLY how do you guys make those numbers...must be the driver and experience.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Well with an auto it will be very hard to hit 14.9's with out many mods.. The way i hit 15.6 is with a good 60' time. Your reaction time doesnt matter because they dont start timing untill you cross the line. Next time you go torque break very lightly so you wont get any wheel spin. Lower your front tire pressure to about 25 psi, Manually shift by tapping into 2nd about 100 revs before redline. That way you get a really firm shift. Do the same to go into 3rd but the most important thing is your 60' I dropped my 60' by 1/10 of a sec but decreased my quarter by 3/10 a second so it makes a huge difference..

What is really the redline for the auto like ours?

I was burning the tires out...I hit the second light and step on the brake and revved my engine to 2000RPM for the launch. Do you think that is too much? What is a good launch method for autos?

Redline is about 6600 for us.

If 2000 spins your tires, try a lower RPM. I cannot launch correctly if I go that high. My best launches come anywhere between 1000 to 1500 because the stock Potenza's aren't too great. Maybe if you get better tires you can launch higher, but for now, stay a tad lower.

Much Appreciated

Thanks Y2KevSe. I'll try what you said on my next visit this weekend. I was just so excited to race the awesome Maxima down the track.

Just a reminder:

If you are torque braking, don't hold the brakes and gas for more than a few seconds. You will build up a lot of heat in your TC by doing so and may kill it.
