Cheston say he can run faster...

than the 15.8 I posted on my first run ever at E-town last Wednesday night. Couldn't get much lower than 2.4 on these ****ty general tires at full psi that are bald on the edges. Ended up with a best of 15.5 @ 89 with a 2.38 60'. It was 86 degrees w/ 53% humidity.

I tried dumping at 2k and just spun like crazy on the way to a 2.46 60 foot. then I tried slipping a little and got it under 2.4. the tires were not gripping for anything.

next time out I'm going to try a normal aggressive street launch and then flooring it; I'm going to lower the PSI to about 20 and see what happens. any other suggestions?

my only mod is a frankencar.

There is something wrong with your car if you are only trapping 89mph in a 4th gen 5spd. You should be trapping 91 at an absolute minimum stock, typically 92 and some people trap 93. With your intake even a tiny bit faster.

hmm...I just changed the knock sensor, and it's like night and day. haven't dyno'd the car yet though. the car is about 4k away from the 120k service, so maybe the service will help.

anything else I should keep an eye out for?

You are insane.

E-Town and Atco are 2 of the fastest tracks around. They are kept very well considering they are used for NHRA. I run my best times there.

Now Island is a awhole new story.

went back again last night. have a new best of 15.4 with a not-so-good 2.5 60-foot. trapped at 90 instead of the 87 from 2 weeks ago. only got 2 runs in, so I wasn't able to adjust my launch for the added grip of the tires w/ lowered psi. I'll be back...
