300 ZX master cylinder

Looking at brakes upgrades. The 300zx conversion is one posibility, but no matter which upgrade we go with I would also like to upgrade the master cylinder. I think the early 90 300 zx used a 1" master cylinder. How big is the one on the Max? Can I use a 300zx master cyinder on a 91 Max SE?

Thanks Guys.

I've laready looked into that

The 300Z master cylinder doesn't "look" like it will fit. I believe the z master cylinder has 3 lines coming out of it while the Max has 4. All this of course is base of pics I've seen on the internet, not actually comparing both cylinder in hand. BUT if you're looking for a 1" master cylinder just the the master cylinder form a Max that has ABS. The non-ABS master cylinder measure 15/16" while the ABS measure 1". From what I've read from others who has the Z caliper their brake pedal feel wasn't effected. So who knows. That was easy

Since you just bought one, how does it look, does it look similar, does it look like the lines match up, does it look like it bolt on, what size master cylinder is it (the size usually stamped on the side) Bring it outside and pop the hood on the Max, let us know. If the Z master cylinder you have is 1" it's not worth fabricating it to fit when the ABS Max will bolt right-on. Go Go Go

I compared my MS line route to the 300z na version. They are in completely different places to bending the stock lines to fit would be a biach

That's what I thought from the pics I've seen. In otehr words stick with the ABS Max master cylinder. If you already have ABS you're ahead of the game
