transmission flush with amsoil
transmission flush with amsoil
Hey guys,
I have a 3rd gen max with 144k on the clock, runs smooth with no major overhauls as of yet.
I am contemplating flushing the tranny and replacing the fluid with AMSOIL synthetic fluid, either the standard or the racing synthetic.
This is my second max (totalled the first one), and I had used AMSOIL in the first tranny with absolutely no problems, the thing ran like smooth as butter (taking into consideration it was just began to slip before I changed to AMSOIL).
This time around I want to do a complete flush and replace all the fluid.
My question is how many quarts do I need, and also if you have any sugestion regarding the tranny flush, or AMSOIL.
Thanks,
.......

Changed 4th gen and it took 10 quarts. Get an extra quart of ATF and flush power steering as well. Flushed 97 SE with 134k on it with no problems. If I were you I'd clean the transmission pan and magnets.

The good thing about the 3rd Gen Max's is that they don't have a Trans Pan, or even a removable filter, its internal. Pretty much all you do is drain and change. I was surprised when I changed the fluid on my 91SE.
