ya they're fairly quick. very light. your auto 2000 max will probly be about even with it, probly a slightly better launch due to your torque advantage

If you don't brake torque off the line, I *think* he might get you.

If you brake torque, it all depends on his driving.

well the civic SI can hit 60 in 7.7 seconds, give or take, while your auto 2000 Max will do it in about 7.5 seconds. so there ya go! its a drivers race

I've beat Civic Si here off the line and definitely smoke them as the speed rises, so just torquebrake to about 1800 and blow his doors off, don't let up off the accelerator and you will beat him.

FYI,

on 2k-2k1's auto's, optimal runs are achieved by braketorquing for a split second at 1,300rpms and stomping on the gas right after. Do not let the car roll, you will have trouble chirping the front tires. Manual shift your car.

Do not underestimate those ugly eggs!! Someone local by me has a modded to the sky 03'SI and I ran him a few times- nevertheless,
I walked him real bad twice- but that little thing pulls like a champ!
I think stock it can take a 2k auto, prob even w/5speed-
but then again that Vtech starts kickin where the max's start droppin'

let's not get carried away now... the 2k/2k1 auto would have to pay attention, but the 5-speed should hand a stock civic Si it's ***. Their board doesn't have *any* stock Si running under 15.5 and a 5-speed can beat that every time or there's something wrong with the the driver or the car.

OMFG! It's going to be close... why are people questioning this???

As for magazines, the altima got a 16.2 or 16.8 (I forgot, but it was definitely over 16) in the 1/4 in one test (yes, the 3.5)... does that mean all altimas get that? NO!

A good driver can get that car to 15.6, maybe 15.5 with no mods. How fast is an auto 2k/2k1? About 15.2? That's a driver's race.

The 5-speed should win, the auto should be close... why are people doubting this?

I don't get it. The power to weight ratio puts the Max way out ahead. This Civic Si is by far the slowest ever made. Is this competition for a 2k/2k1 Auto Max? IMHO, NO!

16.2 in a 3300lb car with ~240hp

Its a drivers race...stock for stock properly driven they will both produce almost exact times. I would give the edge too the auto less likely too fukk up.

what are you talking about?

A magazine did a 1/4 mile test and got 16.2s for a 3.5 altima. Really. So is it that hard to believe the 16.2 for the Si was wrong?

The Si weighs about 2700lbs and has 170hp. The auto max is about 3300lbs with 222 hp. It is a driver's race... people who know anything about the Si know it's a solid 15.6s car and can make 15.5. The auto 2k/2k1 goes 15.2/15.3... if he makes a mistake, sucks up some bad gas, leaves the windows down, leaves the A/C on he'll lose.

This is a stupid comparison, a buddy of mine has the new Si hatch and it's SLOW. If we're talkin about the 00-01 Si coupes, those are some potential competition....

Honda Civic Si 03
160hp
132lb/ft
2730lbs
5.861 power/weight
From what I have read, the Civic Si has a very difficult time getting into the 15's.

Nissan Maxima 00/01
222hp
217lb/ft
3245lbs
6.841 power/weight
Mid 15's are easy for the Max.

Which magazine is this from? Want a website that shows they easily get into the 15s and can get to 15.5/15.6 stock? I'll find it, it'll but it'll take a while to turn off the 'honduh' filter on my firewall.

Or you could believe the other people who also posted here, and used phrases like "driver's race" and "(it) hit(s) 60 in 7.7 seconds" and "fairly quick" and "be careful."

And why the f--- am I defending a civic??? I guess I just hate seeing people get so overly excited about their cars that they forget other manufacturers make smaller, cheaper, nearly as fast cars that are pretty damned good too.

here's a typical time from their "strip" section... 15.8 with a huge-*** driver:

I am 6'6" 330 lbs (I know, why am I driving a civic?) My car is 100% stock, >1 wk old, w/ only 700 miles...

Temp: 50 degrees
Humidity: 56
Baromter: 30.43
Dial in: 15.79 sec

Reaction Time: .571
60ft: 2.310
330ft: 6.598 sec
1/8th: 10.156 @ 69.53 mph
1000': 13.217
1/4mi: 15.810 @ 86.75 mph

With an average sized driver mid 15's are DEFINITELY there. I NEED SOME NEW TIRES!!
-----------------------
and another with just an injen:

r/t-.765
60'-2.268
330-6.434
1/8-9.989
mph-71.18
1000-12.875
1/4-15.411
mph-88.59
mods. injen cai,yokohama avs es100's,upfront 22 psi.
-----------------------
and another stock:

60' 2.425
1/8 10.291
MPH 70.20
1000' 13.291
1/4 15.880
MPH 84.63

I got lazy and stopped on the first page. Do I need to continue? I know these are 15.8 stock but there are more than a few 15.6 in there, too.
