Wheel Balance w/ new wheels?

I just installed some 18's with kuhmo tires. I took them to my local tire shop to have them put the tires on the rims and then balance them. Now when I drive over 50-60MPH the steering wheel shakes. Not all crazy, enough to feel when driving. Should I re-balance them again? Or do I need spacers? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Try another balancing, if it shakes at higher speeds then go to a place that does high speed balancing.

you need high speed balancing on today's wheels...make sure they weights are on the inside....

did you install hubcentric rings?

1)they messed up the balancing
2)you need center hub rings to keep ur wheel in the center
3)your rims are bent if you bough them used.

I had the same problem with my SSR GT1s direct from TireRack. They only put weights towards the outside of the rims and not the inside. They need to be balanced on BOTH planes. Make sure they place weights on both the inside and outside.

You will be good to go then....

Thanks for the advice guys! I bought the wheels and tires new. I don't have the center hub rings, maybe that can be the problem? I seen the weights in the inside of the rims. Where can I find the center hub rings? Are they gereric or do I need specific oneS?

THANKS!@!!

if you have tapered lug nuts try jacking the car up one corner at a time and loosen the lug nuts. then slowly tighten the lug nuts till they seat on to the rim. then in an alternating sequence tighten them a quarter turn at time until completely tight. its a slow process but it gives the wheel time to adjust to the tapered lug nut. also make sure your tire pressure is good. i had the same problem and its all good now.

I had some trouble with my new wheels from tire rack, completely my fault, but relating to the hubcentric rings. The hubcentric rings fit on the backside of the hub, mine just look like black washer type things. they came with the wheels. When I installed my wheels, one of the hubcentric rings somehow got offset and I tightened them like that. My wheel shook only when I was going 55-60mph. Local shop figured out the problem for me, all good now. Hope this helps.
