I pay roughly $1968/yr
No tickets/accidents.

(By the way, there is no such thing as "full coverage". I'm a claim rep. You are covered for what you elect to purchase. People call in all the time angry they don't have a rental car because they have "full coverage" when in fact all they have is liab/comp/coll. Just FYI.)

You DO realize this is a pointless thread?? Soooo many factors come into play, not the least of which is EXACTLY where you live that any comparisons are not worth the time spent typing them.

If you really want some comparisons, at least try this in a regional forum.

I'm trying to get a feel how different rates are through the country. As far as I know, the primary factor is your location, the rest is secondary. Can you tell me where I can find statistics on this topic???

Are you planning on relocating based upon vehicle insurance rates??

In any case, call your insurance agent and ask him/her. They have all the stats or at least the access to them. If you plan on moving to another part of the country, have them run some rates for you.

Keep in mind some of these people that are in their early 20s paying less than 1600 a year are probably on mommy and daddy's policy...You cant get that kind of rate on your own under 25 like that. Unless you live in hickville USA.

sorry but that sounds surreal. even for NJ, with a clean record that is insane. Which company? A ferarri would defenitely not really hurt your premium i think.. heck for 10 years you will buy one with just the insurance premium.

$1400/YR. $1000 deductable on Collsion and Comprehensive.

Have my own policy, but I guess I get good rates due to good credit history and minor non chargeable accidents. I do get charged 20% extra for inexperience driver surcharge as I am under 25 years. I also have a speeding ticket which gave me 3 points on my license, but I don't if they are counting it against me or not... I also took Insurance reduction class which gave me 10% off on my insurance.

You also have a $1000 deductible for both comp AND collision (ouch). You may want to call your agent and see about getting a $50 comp deductible. You might be surprised at just how little more it is. I went from a $500 comp ded to a $50 ded and the increase was like $3/month. That will so be worth it if I ever have to make a claim. Doesn't work that way with collision though. Having a $1000 collision ded is ok if you have $1000 in the bank ready and waiting to go, but otherwise that's hard to come up with should the need arise, at least for most people...

No offense guys, but it's pretty freakin dumb to not have Gap coverage on a new Maxima. If you put a lot down then I can understand, but these things go down in value like the Titanic in no time. I am an insurance claim rep in a total loss unit, and the number of people that are upside down on their cars in freakin crazy. If you don't have Gap, I highly recommend going out and getting it. Most auto-insurers don't offer it. It's something that you can get from an external source. I got mine from the dealer. Seriously, look into it at least...Why would you want to end up owing like $4-5000 on a car you don't even own anymore?? Gap is so worth it.

gap coverage is only for lease vehicles...financed/owned vehicles do not have this option.

gap coverage was DESIGNED for leased vehicles to "fill in the gap" on returned vehicles with excessive wear and tear....

my financed vehicle has full coverage...wtf would I need gap coverage for??? doesn't make sense...

Ok, let's make this reallly simple.

New car price/loan amount: $25K
Drive around
Car's value now: $20K
Major wreck, car totalled
Who pays?: YOU!!

Need to do some homework there!!!

Auto Insurance DOES NOT pay for your loan!! Like I said early on in this thread...THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "FULL COVERAGE." You are covered for what YOU elect to purchase. Auto insurance pays for the Acutal Cash Value of your vehicle at the time of the loss (in a total loss). Auto insurance has NOTHING to do with your loan. People get loans anywhere from 0% all the way to as high as 30%. Insurance isn't there to protect you from making bad financial decisions. It's there to insure the value of your vehicle. That's it. You might want to learn about this a little more...Sounds like you could be in for a surprise if you ever have a bad accident.

Gap coverage is meant to cover what you still own on your loan and the value of your car. Its the difference. I have it in writing with AllState that that is exactly the purpose of Gap coverage. If I owe $15000 and my car is worth or valued at $12000, then the difference is covered. This much I am sure of with AllState.

maybe this is not available in NY, because when I bought this car as with my other NINE prior cars, I was never offered this nor was mention ever made of it....I was only given the gap coverage (actually I was FORCED to take it) when I leased the vehicle which only happened twice....

I will call my ins soon...I gotta get a lower premium anyway...$3000 a year is killing me
