Is the front of the engine the right or left side?

I'm getting a new coil and they asked me if it was the right or the left side. Its in the front, and they have no idea what side that is.

The front should be the left side, which is the even bank (2-4-6) of cylinders. The engine is transverse mount, so the front of the engine is the end opposite of the transmission. The front coils are shorter than the rear (firewall) bank.

The front of the engine has the pullies. The back of the engine has the transmission.

This is true in just about all engine configurations.
