Sorry, there's no Maxima in my future.

Alas, my Maxima days are numbered. My lease is scheduled to be up July 15th, but I extended it to October. Not liking the 6th gen Maximas that much (too big), I intend to lease an Infiniti G35 when the 04's come out this fall.

Now here’s the real problem. Should I lease a G35 sedan or the coupe? Now you may know I’m 66 years old, and as I told my family, I should really act my age and lease the sedan. Their reaction was clear–nonsense- the coupe is better looking and one is never too old for it. My two teenage children would love to “borrow” my G35c if I got one, and my wife prefers its looks. Should I act my age or go for it?

Well I dont think age has any play in wheather you should act it and buy a sedan. The hell with that statement. Its more on, if you like it, then buy it.

The coupe is definetely nicer looking. If you can deal with having to pull the seats forward to let people in and what not or dont see yourself doing alot of full car driving, then get the coupe. No question about it.

If you see yourself always in a full car and cant see your self dealing with the issue of pulling the seat forward to let people in, then the answer is clear.

I decided to lease for the following reasons:

I will always have a new car every 3 or 4 years. I love to drive the latest.
It will always be under warranty. (I paid dearly for two lost trannys on my 3rd gen Maxima)
I'm not interested in modding. I've been happy with my stock 5th gen.
I avoid trade-in or selling the old car hassles.

Yes, I'll pay a bit more in the end, but for me, it's worth it.

If I was that age, I'd probably lease as well, IMO, you should enjoy a new car every 3 years if you can afford it, why stick with an old car. Get the coupe, its better looking and has an extra 20hp. I don't think the brembo's are available on the sedan either.

one piece of advice, dont let the kids drive the car, or scare the ---- out of them before you let them.

Wreckless driving accidents are not fun, and are not cheap.

If you can see the G35c fitting your needs (mainly the back seat thing) then by all means, go for it

You need to act your age. Just get either a Crown-vic or a Grand Marquis and move the seat close to the steering wheel.

GET THE G35 COUPE!!!!!!!!!! Live it up!

Well, you guys convinced me. I'll get the coupe. Maybe someone will mistake me for a 30 year old as I wiz by. If we go anywhere as a family we can always use my wife's Sable. And if I let my kids drive it I do hope it will be wreckless instead of reckless.

Actually, lately, leasing has been a pretty good move financially. The residual values calculated (the value of the car at the end of the term) have been very high. You end up paying for less "value" than you use up in the end.

Of course, mileage restrictions suck. I drive 30,000 miles a year, so leasing is no good to me

*lol* do you care what high school students think about your decision? I assume you're retired, my advice is to do what makes you happy. If you don't do it now, when will you? And why are you leasing and not buying? Your home must be paid off so why not take out a home equity loan and pay cash for the vehicle? imho Maxima to G35 is a somewhat lateral move. My aunt retired at age 53 from PACTEL and AT&T and has had an M3 ever since--95 used in 96, and 2002 last year, she's 60 later this year. Yes, you may have to pay over list, but it's time to enjoy at your age. And don't let your teenage children drive whatever you get, let them make their own way in life. Heck you've probably socked away $500+/mo since they were born to send them to college, you've done enough for them. Good luck.
