selling max need opinions
i have a 96 GXE with 94k miles and i found this guy thats in LOVE with my car and is willing to buy it for $11,000 in cash. obviously thats a crazy good deal i'm getting for the car, but i'm really in LOVE with this car too (spent 4 grand on it so far). i know i'll probably never get an offer like this ever again when i do plan on selling my car in about 2-3 more years. my question is, should i sell the car for 11 bones or just keep it? what would you guys do if you got a crazy good deal on your car?
I'd sell it and get another one, newer one, like 97 for about 7-8k and use the rest to mod it back up!
The fun is all in the work you do. Why not have that fun, but with a newer version of the same ride I say.

You may as well sell it to him at $11,000.
It sounds like he is the type that would buy a car for modification activities. He is willing to pay you a premium to save himself the effort.
Sales opportunities like that are very rare for a car like a Maxima.
I would advise you to take the deal and sell the car. If you removed all your mods and sold them separately from the car, you probably won't get anywhere near the same $4000 that you originally spent on the mods themselves.
The guy is offering you around $5000 above Kelly "private party" book value. I wouldn't try to squeeze him for more money.
For the $11,000, you'd be a just a few grand shy of getting yourself into a 2000 Maxima SE 5-speed. The 5th gen doesn't look so much like a 4X4 even with stock springs, has tighter build quality and a quieter interior, has a stiffer framework, and has more power and torque. I believe all 5th gens come standard with ABS brakes...
LOVE for a car is a good thing... But it shouldn't come at the expense of a great financial opportunity.

SELL IT! a car can always be replaced, and a deal like that may not present itself again. let me put it this way, i am selling my modded 97' se fully loaded, with only 84k miles for 9,000. if you can try to jack it up to 12grand if he really wants it that bad
SELL IT!!
SELL IT!!
this guy is a moron, he just saw the rims and heard the sound system and he's like "daaaamn for SUUUURE i want it!!.....lets make this work....your car is off the hook....blah blah blah....." so he's not buying it for the mods and stuff, doesnt even know what a greddy catback is (which i have). its just a shame to lose a car like this to an idiot that wouldnt even know how to use it/drive it. but thanks for all your replies and i'm gonna sell it. i'll either get a 99 SE or a 2K2 SE. THANKS AGAIN GUYS
i have a feeling that he's gonna flake on me
. but if he does buy the car i told him he could join the maxima club (the org) so he'll be here and ya'll could dog on him for being so stupid. you could start post a thread like....."some idiot bought a 96 GXE for $11,000". hahaha too funny. just cross your fingers for me guys, i'll keep you guys updated.
