Transmission problem

Hi everyone... This is my first post on the board... I tried to do a search before anyone starts to get off at me, just wanted to get it cleared that the search fuction is not working...

My sister has a 4th gen Maxima in automatic... She's been having this problem since last year that it wont go into park and she did take it into the dealer which didnt solve anything for her... The problem is that it wont get into park... So she barely drives this car and leaves it at home in her garage unless she needs to take it out... Well, since she cant put the car in park, she cant pull the key out of the ignition... Can someone please help me out to solve this situation???

take off the shifter **** and check to see if theres something under there thats blocking it or look at the button mechanism and check if its working. could be something like a penny jamming the shifter.

I had an audio cable that snuck down there and gave me some problems when shifting. I thought I was in for major problems. I had to laugh when I saw what it was .
