Price for a 93 max with odometer fraud???
I'm interested in selling my 93 max SE, which is in pretty good condition, but it's had it's odometer rolled back. How do I figure a decent price to sell my max for with this problem? It only says it has 116,000 miles but it has alot more. I used kbb and entered 200,000 miles and it's still says it's worth over 3 grand. Any help is appreciated.
rolled back maxima or cars in that matter are
no one wants to deal with that since its in an unknown condition. KBB only give a ruff estimate of what its worth, and you'll get about a couple hundreds less then what on the sight depending on condtion and who is buying the car. If i was buying it i would be warey and wouldnt go for it. good luck for what ever you get resonable. btw i baught my max which was in impeccable condition with 116k leather and 5spd for less than 3200 here in NE area.
I say depending on condition of the max exterior and interior and mechanical you could get about 2,500 for it or more if its a 5spd. that is all
dont look forward to 3+ IMHO.
good luck

So would I have a better chance trading it in? I went to a dealer last week but didn't drive the max. I asked about trading in cars with odometer fraud, and the salesman said they base the price on the condition of the vehicle only. What should I expect from the dealer? Theres a pic of my max on my homepage, last page.
hmmm. I cant help you much on the whole odometer fraud thing, but here in Washington, after 10 years, the seller cannot be legally held responsible for the mileage on the car, the back of the title has a waiver for anything over 10 years.
on a side note, that 2k3 is awesome, I love Majestic Blue. It looks like you put the 03 wheels on the 93, would you be willing to sell them? I have a set of stock 93 wheels I can ship back to you if needed.

If everything is working ok and IF THE VTCs AREN'T TICKING, then I think around $3000.
Just check on the title that the miles are unknown to you. My last car was an 86 Mustang GT convertible and I sold it like that (odo only went to 99,999 -- Ford doesn't expect their cars to reach 100K). The first guy that called paid cash and didn't even question the odo reading beause the car was in such good shape. Car condition is probably more important than miles when you are talking about a car that's over 10 years old, anyway.
My 92 SE 5-speed (140K when I bought it) has the vtc ticking and I paid $2500. That included four like-new studded snow tires mounted on steel wheels.

The odometer fraud, I was told happened sometime in 1999 so I guess I'm out of luck. I'll still check if Texas has anything like that though.
Well car prices varies A LOT, so who knows how much your car will eventually sell? It's whatever you and the buyer can agree on. I think at this age the condition of the car is much more important than the mileage. I will just advertise it at what a Maxima of that age/condition sells for in your area. Maybe Red92MaxSE's suggestion of $3000 is a good one. Just tell the potential buyer that you bought it used and found out the odo's been rolled back, but point out how good the condition is, how well it's been maintained, and how well it has served you.
