Focus ZX3 vs. 1997 Maxima

Just wondering. Could a 2003 ZX3 ever do high 13's with everything done to it except for supercharger, nos , or turbo? Could it even do it with a turbo. My girlfriend thinks his car can beat my 97 5spd max. All i have done is UDPD.

Maybe. I have a friend with a ZX3(5spd) with everything done to it except forced induction and he's pretty damn quick. I'm embarassed to say that he's faster than I. I'd have to go with YES. Watch out if you're out running with these guys. A small shot of NOS will make those little cars launch like a ****.

Stuff I found in some Ford Focus Forum:

HOW MUCH DO HEAT AND ELEVATION AFFECT 1/4 MILE TIMES. I JUST TOOK MY CAR TO THE STRIP AND IT ONLY GOT A 17.5 AT 89MPH. THAT SEEMS KIND OF SLOW TO ME. ALL I KNOW IS THAT ALBUQUERQUE IS PRETTY HIGH AND THE DRAG STRIP IS A GOOD 600 FT HIGHER THAN THE REST OF THE CITY. IT WAS 84 DEGREES ALSO. HOW WOULD MY TIME COMPARE IN A LOWER ELEVATION

Some stats I found

2000 Ford Focus ZX3
Max Horsepower 130 @5300 rpm
Max Torque 135 @4500
Curb Weight 2551 lbs
Tire Size stock : 15 inch
0-60: 9 seconds
Standing 1/4 mile: 16.8
Top Speed: 112 mph

I believe someone could do anything to a car. can this stock ford focus whip a 97 5 speed maxima ? Man I sure hope it cant ! my money is on the maxima ...just take it to the track ! However a bad run in a 97 could get you a 90 mph @ 16.0 or 16.1 believe it or not. The only thing the focus has going for it is the weight and rim size but still ... any good driver should make easy work of this ford focus ... ENJOY !

Even with every bolt on he couldn't beat you bone stock. The SVT Focus can run mid 15's in the magazines...

I don't believe this garbage. A ZX3 focus? I can understand all hooked up without forced induction, maybe. Yeah, magazines also said my '97 5spd runs a 15.3(look at sig). Unbelievable, somebody please lock this

Looking at the numbers, I'd put my money on the Maxima. But the drivers could play a big part. To make it easier, exploit their very low top speed (112 mph?) with top end runs (hoping you're not governed at 118 mph).

nice run (esp. the 1/8 mile) man i wish my car was a stick. makes a big difference in the max. but the max should take the focus with little to no problem.

bro...i have a 96 autotragic, and i have race both a regular zx3 and a svt slocus. The zx3 had just about every bolt on(cai, header, udp, fullexh,ss) and beat him by 2 cars only cause i shut down...the svt stock...me with just a pop charger did the same. You shouldnt have a prob. Good luck
