Balljoint replacement question

Just bought a '95 SE and it needs a balljoint to pass safety.

I managed to separate the balljoint from the knuckle. Question is, can I just replace the balljoint or does the whole control arm need replacing in this generation? If the control arm does have to come off, anyone know the size of the large bushing pin nut?

TIA, I gotta get this puppy on the road!

It may be easier to just order the control arm (includes ball jt). Some have said they were able to buy just the ball joint and had their old one pressed out by a mechanic.

What state do you live in that scrutinizes the car to the point of looking at the condition of the ball joints!?!

Very typical for the inspecting mechanics up here in Canada (Ottawa, Ontario) to check for free play in the balljoints. I suppose since its not a quick fix for the casual DIY it makes for an easy cash grab for the fully equipped mechanic.

Just to answer my original questions in case anyone ever needs to know...

I had the worn balljoint pressed out and new one pressed in. A lot cheaper option than the new OEM control arm with balljoint. Bushing pin nut is 27mm, bushing mounts 24mm.

I wanted to thank yo for CONFIRMING that you can replace the ball joints wihtout spending the $$$$ for an entire new arm
