18s and 19s tire sizes....why????

Why hasnt anyone used 235/45/18 or 245/40/19 as tire sizes for the maxima? Will these rub? If you think about it they make sense to use this much rubber because stock maxes have 215/55/16 or 225/50/17 so the other two tire sizes would seem to work while allowing you to have more rubber around you rims.

I chose 245/40/18 since they had the closest diameter to stock.

I'm with you. The new 18x8.5 wheels will be here in two weeks, and the 255/40/18's are waiting at Discount Tire. I'll be the guinea pig and see if they will work. I'll post results when they are on the car.

255s might rub in the rear.

I have 245 40 18s with an 8.5" wide wheel and 37mm offset. When I put on 5mm rear wheel spacers, it rubbed like a *****.

I've thought of getting some 19"s w/ 235/35/19 tires and I thought 245s would rub with only 1 1/2 inch clearance but 255s?

245 35 19s would probably work.

Ditto. This morning I bought a friends 19's with 245/35's and put them on my 4th Gen with Eibachs and there's no rubbing anywhere that I can tell. The Eibachs lowered the car close to 1.5" in front and the "gap" is equal front to rear.
