Need some brake help from the xperts!

Need Brake Help: vibration/clicking noise under hard braking only--

Hey guys.. swapped out 4 slotted/xdrilled rotors with Axxis metal matrix pads on the maxima today..

when i went to bed the pads, under hard braking, i get this weird rythmic vibration noise coming from the driver side front wheel (steering wheel is NOT shaking) and its like a clicking noise...

when i do soft braking its fine, but when i'm 'on the pedal' say 60 to 15 mph, its pretty bad and i can hear/feel the clicking/buzz in the brake pedal..

there seems to me some air in the lines (which is strange since the pedal felt normal to me before swapping the pads and i didnt dis engage the caliper from the SS lines...

any ideas? could it be the piston is not setting right? or that the air in the lines might be the culprit?

i double checked to see if the caliper and the piston parts were bolted on correctly and they were.. its really strange!

help!

I'd go ahead and do the rebleed. But I wouldn't be suprised that the odd vib is from the slots/holes in the rotor.

Check all the hardware on the caliper. Those brass colored guides that the pads slide on. If they have been moved or bent they may be coming in contact with the rotor under heavy breaking.

Do you remove the guide pins, clean and regrease them with the install? Thats important to assure proper caliper movement. Also just make sure the dust shield hasn't been pushed up to close to the rotor. Just push it away from the rotor by sticking a screwdriver through your wheel spokes.

I hate noisy brakes, hope you figure it out.

i would as well check the lines ...
it may be as easy as that...

breaks make noise no matter...so you may have to deal with it unfortunately...

good luck though...this is on what caliper setup?...still the big ones or stockies...?

you went from solid rotors to slotted/drilled ones, as well as installing the pads?

most likely it's the noise from the slots and holes in the rotors. they tend to make a whirring sound when you get on them hard.

The only thing ive noticed about the axxis metal matrix pads is that they are louder then OEM, it sounds like a damn shuttle when stopping (as stated above ) These Axxis pads are driving me nuts, they sqeal and that gets under my skin. It happends only when under 5mpg too Ive even removed them, lightly sanded/cleaned the surface, threw on some No sqeal and it worked for like 2days

Does Brembo have the Gran turismo model availible for our cars or we have to rig something up The only thing I care about is stopping power w/o any squealing!

My porterfield R4S pads don't squeal.. Cheston, maybe it's the brake pad pins. Perhaps you bent one and when you brake hard, the pin clips the side of the slots on the rotors, making a clicking noise. I assume the speed of the clicking decreases as the car comes to a stop?

That's true. The caliper bolts/pins need to be lubricated.
