Boost spike and rev limiter question
Boost spike and rev limiter question
Well when my autuo shifts, I see 8-10 PSI. That is a spike of 1/2 PSI - 2 1/2 PSI.
Should I be concerned?
If I go to 9-10 PSI the it may spike @ 12 PSI and then
:
Also sometimes I hit my rev limiter @ 6700 RPM while still in drive...
This can't be good, is there anything I can do to stop that? OTHER than a 5-spd swap.

Damn the boost spike is definetely not good, Ive been told it comes from the manual boost controller at times, certain ones do it really bad, some control it fairly well. Thats why everyone recommends Electronic ones.
The rev limiter I wouldnt be concerned with unless you know for a fact it is at 6700rpm. When Arthur dynoed the car, did he tell you how much your RPM was truly off? Because he usually has a more accurate reading than the analog gauge. Ive been told they are +/- 250rpm.

Really, the only way to deter boost spike is with the use of an electronic boost controller. On my Blitz SBC-ID, when I dial in 9 psi, it may spike to 9.2 psi, but that is because I have the gain set high (gain = how fast I want the boost to come). When I was using the manual boost controller you and I built, I saw a spike at 12 psi when I "thought" I was at 9. So, that was a BIG BIG no no. I immediately hooked up the Blitz and I have been fine ever since. Ask Jaime (Jay25) on how it sounds too lol......
But again, that is another 5 bills that you will have to fork out and waste.....

If you want incabin adjustability, then it's like $140-$180 I think.
