Is this an SE muffler with the internal valve?

I paid $135 shipped for this from a fellow org member, he said it was off a 2k2 se.

I heard the SE's have the valve that opens & closes while the other models don't.. just wanted to make sure I got an SE since the tips look a little different from other ones that I've seen.

Isn't $135 for a stock muffler a bit high?

If you think about it, this muffler is better than any aftermarket
performance wise- If i came stainless steel it would be great-

I purchased a PowerTech muffler. Therefore, my "old one" is my stock 2002 Muffler.

I saw the Calsonic embossed underneath too. Checked out the Calsonic site. They make a lot of good quality products including mufflers and cooling systems. I bet good money the radiator is made by Calsonic. Check the back of your remotes too.

I got an AE too. I just might keep the muffler and put magnaflow tips. I don't like those tips pointing down.

Sorry call me green to the some of the parts of the Maxima, but may I ask what you are referring to when you say Valve in the muffler???

I am a mechanic but have worked on mostly Australian and German cars.

Thanks in advance,

there is a valve in all the 2000-2003 the valve is closed below something like 2500 rpms and after that it opens-up to alow a path to the left exhaust tip, for freer breathing. I have a picture of it in the brouser but I dont have a scanner

Ummm...don't think so.

My GXE's exhaust sounds nothing like my friend's 2000 SE.

Also, the muffler on the GXE (i believe) does not have the valve that opens and closes. I remember reading in a magazine when the 5th gen first came out about the muffler, and i believe the article said it is not avaialble on the base model.

you are correct. The Base model didnot have it on the 2000/2001.

I replaced my 2k's radiator recently (****ed it up while backflushing it, scraped the radiator filler neck lip), and I do believe the old radiator said Calsonic on it...
Shoot that reminds me, I still need to dispose of the old radiator.
