Cracked Windshied
Cracked Windshied
Hi Guys!
I need your opinions on my cracked windshield. Last week, I went out of town, while driving on the highway, a piece of rock hit my windshield and cracked it. There's about 6" crack line on my left winshield. I wonder if it can be repaired or I have to replace the whole windshield. Does insurance cover it if I have it replaced? Thanks for your inputs.

you can file a comprehesive claim and claim it on insurance, but do you want your rates to go up? ask your nissan (or any other) dealership if there is a glass repair shop in your area. some repair shops only fix chips though not cracks.
Insurance covers it if you have full glass coverage and your rates will NOT go up. Full glass coverage is well worth the $4/month.
If you don't have it, you can add it to your policy and then put a claim in a few months later. Yes, it's dishonest.

Dealer charges $100 for chips which I asked about. Cracks is tuff. I know the windshield costs a fortune so have insurance is the best. Don't go to some ordinary windshield replacement place, go back to the Nissan Dealer. I had leaks on mine when I had a Honda windshield replacement.
I've had over 10 windshields replaced by small shops with no problems. They all use factory glass and most offer warranties.
Also, I would be willing to bet that dealerships contract out for glasswork anyhow, just like they do with body work. They sell the jobs to the lowest bidder. That's not how I want my car taken care of.

I just had mine replaced. Total cost with labor 565$. With insurance $250. My insurance will not increase because of the claim. This is on a 03 SE.
