Where to buy spring wrap?

Or whatever is called, where can i get a good quality spring wrap?

I hear Nissan has a poly wrap that works best, but is also pretty pricey. Will ordinary wraps work okay or will i have to replace it now and then?

Lastly, would it be okay for me to wrap the entire spring assembly to cover the "yellow" Maxspeeds?

Thanks

You can't see the yellow springs anyway unless you look up inside the wheel well. I used the wrap from the factory springs.

Thanks for the response.

I'd still like to know where to buy aftermarket wraps and if it's okay for me to wrap the entire spring though.

I've heard of people doing it, but I don't see any benefit from it. You'll just spend more money on something you don't have to do. It you're worried about noice, as long as you sit them right on the strut you shouldn't have any problems. If you want to just protect the springs, I guess go for it, but as cheap as these springs are you might as well just buy another set.

It's more for aesthetic reasons than anything else. I can easily see the springs as it is now, and i dont' think an inch of drop is going to hide it that much.

Might sound silly, but why not just paint them?

Cover the coils in wire loom. Thats what i did, it stopped the noise and since its been on (6 months) there have been no problems. Oh and you can choose a different color. 20 feet for $6, why not?

Painting them (e.g. the right way, not just spray paint) will cost me about $20 a pop.

I doubt spray paint will last long and stick to the springs - it has a weird shiny yellow surface, soft almost.

Maxima10to1, any wire loom will do? (e.g. Radioshack comes to mind)

I had radioshack wire loom on my 3rd gen with Eibahcs. Stuff worked great. It's actually gonna take a bunch of wire loom to cover your entire spring. The package they sell at Radioshack has 3 wirelooms of various sizes in it. THe one that's large enough to fit the spring is only long enough to cover the progressive part of the spring. You'd probably have to buy quite a few packages to cover the whole spring.

I used some wire wrap (not wire loom) from Radio Shack for the top coil of my Maxspeeds. I didn't wrap the entire spring, tho. I kinda like the yellow when you get close enough to see it. The wire wrap fits tight on the spring. I re-used the factory wrap for the bottom.

I didn't know that wire loom was different from wire wrap.

What's the wrap made out of? If i'm not mistaken, the wire loom is made of some sort plastic.

Wire wrap is plastic. It's flat and about 3/8 inches wide. Looks kinda like a flat coiled telephone cord.

I think spiral wrap would work out just fine. Will take lots of twisting to cover the whole spring, but you can get this stuff in decent lengths...

Do Not spray paint the springs...it will chip and crack before you even get done reinstalling them...

Do you think the wire loom that Custom maxima sells for the engine will do the job? I was thinking about painting my maxspeeds red.

That looks like standard hard-plastic split loom. Personally, I would prefer something a bit softer...
