going from generic hai to cut stock intake...
i hacked my stock airbox today because i'm sick of the feel of my hai. the cone is kinda small and has never really done anything for me. ever since i drove my friends stock 97 the other day, i've been itching for the stock feeling just 'cuz his drove so nice. (we just put new custommaxima red/clears on his the other day and i have pics on my homepage, page 3, if anyone's interested)

so do you guys think i'll be happy with this? also, has anyone done this with a midpipe? wondering how that would be. thanx for reading

I had the mid pipe and stock air box without the snorkel in for a month or so. Not loud, very smooth, but faster/slower........beats me. I never hacked the box nor had a K&N panel filter, but it cant be the worst setup. I still debate to this day what setup is the best overall. Right now I'm running the stock resonator and a generic cone filter (i do miss the sound of the mid pipe vs the stock resonator).
thanx for the input...i'm hoping it brings back my low end and maybe even gives me a little power compared to my small hai intake. i've been told by some on here that intakes aren't really a big deal for 4th gens, as far as giving power...so, hopefully this will help my path to quiet down and make my vq flow well. next step is going for a quieter muffler, maybe swap someone for a stock SE one. my budget y-pipe is staying i just hate the droning of the muffler i have on there now.
but it'll still be getting some air from outside as it does stock, right?
i did it today, broke one of the 4 bolts that connect it to the maf
it's in place and not moving so hopefully i didn't majorly mess up. i'll let everyone know how it feels compared to the generic pro car parts one i had in there, if anyone cares.
