When I lock the doors with the remote and someone opens them manually from the inside, the alarm goes off.

After you press the LOCK button, wait like half a minute for the security light to start flashing and then try it.

Make sure you don't leave the key in the ignition because the alarm won't arm if the key is in.

Yeah, u must wait a certain amount of time before it's armed. Nissan did this for situations like getting into your trunk. I personally lock the doors right after i leave the car even if i have to get into thr trunk. I would hate it if everytime i went into the trunk, the alarm would sound.

LOL......
Yeah....wait a minute or 2.
I heard mine go off on a trip. What happened was i had set the alarm because my brother was sleeping and i had to stop at a mini mart. Got out, was paying, and the alarm goes off. I run outside to see my brother standing there looking like an idiot, all because he had gotten out of the car. It works, but its just alot more selective to when it works. Simply tuggin at the outside handles does not do it. Opening the hood, trunk, or doors from the inside does.

No it won't ZIRAFA. You're pressing the panic button, not the alarm button...

If by "the panic button" you mean the big grayish-blue button with the padlock image on it on the stock remote, then I guess you are right 'cause that's what I press to set it off. I use the same button to lock my car.

umm dont do this. the stock alarm doesnt have a shock sensor so unless you like dents or broken glass then be my guest.

yeah thats the reason i have a problem with the stock alarm. although there is a write up on vqpower.com (under 4th gen) about how to easily install a shock and glass sensor so that it will go off with broken glass or a bump. i was thinking about doing this as soon as i get some free time.

The lock button and the panic button is the same button. If you press the button, it'll lock the doors. If you hold down the button, it'll go into panic mode and turn on the alarm.

On my remote that came with the car when I bought the car used it's:
Big - lock/panic
Left - unlock
Right - trunk
Bottom - inside dome light on/off

I just looked at my spare remotes that I got from eBay and 1 of them doesn't have any images on it, but the other one has:
Big - lock
Left - unlock
Right - trunk
Bottom - panic

I guess they changed them after 95 HAHAHAHA I have an extra feature, dome light on/off button I'm special

I feel deprived, my model doesn't come with a remote

I've had the alarm go off once, after shutting the door and for some reason the door locked with the keys inside. So, had to break into it and unlock it, setting off the alarm. Only time it's ever locked it's self when the door shut.

Spend 20-30 on ebay and get a remote... without the remote you cant show off the rollling down windows trick... lol

Hmmm, I had a '92 before and my mother in law backed into one night. My alarm started going off. I had no idea it would but it did. It had the stock security system (as far as I know) and it did not have a remote that I remember. Explain that?????

It is too :P Well, here in NZ it is anyway, lol. The next model up, the SEL (which was the top model for that year) came with the remote.

I'm not sure if my car would have the module to work with the remote, does anyone know where I can look to see if it has the remote stuff, and can then just buy a remote off eBay?

Not beside the cruise control switch (mine doesn't have cruise either ), its down below the stereo, next to where the "active suspension dampening" button would be. It has the alarm, just not sure if it has the remote control component.
