I got beat twice!! SHO and Grand Prix GT

Last week my bud took me to a place where there is a 1/4 mile measured out. First I went against a Auto, Stock 98 Grand Prix GT. He jumped out in front by half a car in 1st and held it to the finish. I thought for sure I would beat him. Next I went against a 90 5 speed SHO. I jumped in front by half a car and after that he passed me at 50 mph and kept on going. He beat me by 2 cars. I lost twice!
I did have an SES light come on 2 weeks ago for ignition coils.
Maybe that could explain the losses?
I need to get my max dynoed!

Are you an auto or 5spd. If you're an auto then it's not that bad, but on the other hand if you're a manual then you should beat those cars.

They aren't worth **** period. Just because a piece of junk is reasonably fast doesn't make it worth owning. It is just a fast piece of junk.

Grand Prix GTP = 3.8 Liter Supercharged

That will give you a run for your money. But they don't stop so good. We had one in the body shop just recently so I took it for a spin. Nice engine in that thing, pulls really hard but the brakes were absolutely horrable. Couldn't stop the car unless I stood on the pedal. Once again GM shows there ability to screw up what can be a really nice car. Interrior was typical GM too. The heads up display of your speed was the only thing that was kind of high tech.

yes they are a joke. The grand prix gt is a dog. I've seen one run at rockingham with some type of headlight intake and exhaust and it ran a speedy 10.1 @ 68.

A GTP still isn't that tough. I've taken one from a roll in my 2k 5spd. I prolly would have lost if I were auto, but I got a jump with the 5spd and kept it.
Jerk thought he could keep me from passing him in a lane that ended. He could not.

I'm not that impressed. To quote the website, "The Thrasher "Cage Car" GTP was a collaberation between Thrasher Engineered Performance and GM Powertrain to push the L67 engine to it's absolute maximum power potential."

You would think that with the help of two large companies and a fully gutted interior they would be putting up some better times. Hell, Mardi is only .2 off of their time and he doesn't have as many mods and did it/paid for it himself.
