New I.C.E. in the Max (BIG PICS! 56k warning)
LONG -- Important stuff bolded
I finally got around to spending the money for a new system. Its been a long (well, not really) road to it, but its done now. First, I was going to move the Bose HU into the arm rest and just get the Redmax screen as I didnt want to buy a new HU. I quickly realized that wouldnt work.
Long story short, I found shogun96max and bought my Redmax screen and he convinced me to buy his Alpine CDA9815 for a great price. Came the next day and I installed it the first weekend, the day after the PAC adapter came. I started to hook it up until I realized I want aftermarket speakers, so I went off to Circuit City to take advantage of their return policy and picked up Infinity References 6002i for $99/pr! Doesnt matter, as they were going back anyways. It sounded GREAT!
Next I got the invertor and modded my XBOX, which in the process I fried one XBOX. I installed XBOX Media Player and transferred over all my MP3s and vidoes after installing a 100GB HDD. I then copied all my games to it and sold them to make up the cost of the chip.
Once I hooked this all up to the AUX on the Alpine, I got nothing but static. I was so upset and after talking to people, they say it was internal, so I sold it on eBay and managed to break even, and I disclosed that AUX didnt work. I went down to Circuit City again to find the Panasonic touch screen HU on sale, so I bought it and let them install it for free. They found out something about the ground and after some soldering, all was well and AUX worked!
However the internal amp on it sounds terrible so I talked to Don (Pearl96Max) and picked up an Eclipse PA5532 5 channel amp. It finally came and I went to Matthels (Turbo95Max) and picked up some MB Quart RSB218 components he had lying around.
Another long story short, it took around 10 hours to install everything. I took the Bose wiring out and where the Bose front amps usually are, I dremmeled it out and put the MBQ xovers. I dremelled out a hole above the rear seat belts to mount the rear tweets as well. Overall, it looks alright and needs some clean up but is very functional. The final touch was to add in the switch for the screen which you can see in the pics.
Overall, Im very proud as I installed it all myself with no physical help and figured most of it out as I went along, and it works! Next step is an Optima battery so I can play XBOX without the battery dying!

Did you over do the hole for the red switch? Cause it looks like its about to fall in.
And I dont know about the Power Invertor, you need to just make the Xbox into 12V as Ive done. Pickup that physics book of yours and read where it talks about inversions, that unit is going to get really hot not to mention you are going backwards in convering 12VDC to 120VAC and then backdown to 12VDC.

All i can say is it sounds good to me lol. I have them turned down 3dB as not to deafen the people in the back seat and that helped move the stage forward a bit, but i didnt spend near enough for real SQ.
