Shabby, the 2k2-2k3 HIDs are stolen all the time, left and right...

MaxJag, just get yourself some AE headlights and a pair of aftermarket 8000k HIDs..you cannot go wrong.

Kirk....the dude lives in Arkansas, an area (correct me if Im wrong) where HID theft is not a concern.

with that said, 2k2 HIDs is the total answer-gives better light and looks way better.

If he were in NY or Jersey, I would've advised him otherwise, but either way living in NY has not made me lose any love for my 2k3...

It's true the HIDs look better, but they cost around $1200 compared to $250 for the AEs. You can get a body kit for the price difference.

would you rather have lighting that is unbelievable and will last the life of the car or a cheap a$$ bodykit that will chip and flake??

you can't compare the two, its apples and oranges... a good body kit (urethane) unpainted will run you $1k easy.....add paint, prep, molding (if so desired) and labor and you got yourself a $2k+ bodykit

I have seen both HID & non-HID and the difference is not night & day, yeah the HIDs are better but not $1200 better. I elected to get the AEs with PIAA Extreme white bulbs and it looks fairly close to HIDs and I don't have to worry about them getting stolen. But that's only my opinion.

Also you can buy an already painted AE bodykit for around $1100 and installation was only $250.

Just my opinions. Peace.

once again, apples and oranges....you note that the "LOOK" is fairly CLOSE, but then again you are referring to color (at least I hope so)

but color and light output are two TOTALLY different animals...

place your AE lights with Piaa bulbs against a 2k2 or 2k3 with stock 4300k HID and you will be surprised at this $1200 difference in light OUTPUT...forget about color

if you want real color, get upgraded HID bulbs between 6000k-8000k and u'll see true color.

now one could obviously argue the Piaa Spark Blue 7500k bulbs having color for $90, but then again with regular halogen try seeing how much light is emitted from these bulbs, I'd be surprised if you could see 2ft in front of your bumper with those things..

as stated previously, one cannot comment about the true benefit of HID lighting until one invests the money in either a car that comes stock with em or gets a retrofit kit installed...the light difference is night and day

My last comments on this subject: Yes the HIDs are better, there is no doubt about it. But in my opinion they are not worth $1200 and the headache of getting them stolen, that is the point I am trying to get across to the original author of this post.

homie... you and the original poster have no issues with theft....only ppl that have issues are guys like me who live in NY/NJ

as far as I know, HID theft only occurs in these two states (most often)

Ok, here are my final comments:

You are better off, safer, and smarter by getting a set of AE headlights. On darker colored cars, black or grey, AE headlights look great. Even on lighter colored cars, like white or sterling mist, they look better. I see no point in having the stock Nissan HIDs. To me, like others have posted in this thread, the Nissan HIDs headlamps are not worth the dollar amount people spend on them, or the risk. I have absolutely no worries with my AE lights being stolen. However, with Nissan HIDs, it doesn't matter where you live, or whether or not they are stolen frequently where you live, there is still the high risk of them getting taken by someone on any given day. I was not, and still am not willing to go through the hassle of having to worry about my car getting damaged from someone stealing my headlights. Also, my aftermarket HIDs are brighter and look better in the AE headlights than the stock Nissan HID setup could ever.

And that's all I have to say on that..

I would go for the AE headlights, I am going to have mine done when I save up enough to get them. I like that black contrast around the headlight. It looks very aggressive like a football player wear black under their eye ready to rip the engine.
