I used it on my car yesterday and it really got out alot of funk from the paint. I used the Meguiars quick detail /clay bar combo, i must say this stuff is impressive. After that i used the meguiars wax,and polish and i must say the Max looks brand new! My girlfriend rubbed her hand over the car and she said it felt like glass! Nice glossy shine and the sterling mist paint looks more vibrant then before, especially in the sun.

I have to recomend the clay bar for anybody trying to take off old wax, build up, oxidation,tree sap,etc. The bar is much better than any wax cleaner i ever used!

yes, clay is your maxima's best friend, next to some good old TLC..

but this is maintenance related...

 

where did you buy the clay bar

 

I'd recommend Clay Magic (a.k.a. blue bar) that's found at your local Wal-Mart. They're easier to handle and is softer, but not too soft that it basically breaks off in pieces.

But either way, the Clay bar is God's gift to the detailer.

Try using it on your glass too <-- learned this from the master detailer Prinz himself.

 

After the clay bar, in what order do u wax and polish? i believe i heard that you should wax then polish your car.

 

I just wax my car, i haven't seen the need for polish at this point.

 

To remove wax, however, I would use Dawn dishwashing detergent. It has certain agents in it that are semi-abrasive to take off wax but gentle enough to keep your car safe.

 

I'll attest to that, but i use Dawn sparingly. Usually only when i plan on claying the car. Otherwise a nice scrubdown and wax treatment will suffice.

The clay bar is good stuff. I use Meguiars as well. The best way to compare is to take a soft cloth and slide it over the hood after you clay bar it and then do the same with a freshly washed car not clay bar'd. The difference is significant. I was sold the first time I did my cars and did one first and then compared with the other.

 

Have you guys heard of or used ZainoBros before? I have their "kit" sitting in a box next to me...I'm just waiting to get my old car out of the garage before I spend all the time applying this stuff to my car. I used mother's clay bar last week end on the wife's Lexus. I don't think it looked that good new! I also followed up with a coat of Nu Finish... I love that stuff. It's been rated as one of the best "waxes" for years. Easy to use and it lasts. (much easier than the clay bar!! I love the result, but it's a pain)
