2k3 Maxima vs Boxster S

Ok normally I don't talk about the races or encounters I have with other cars, but this has got to be told. This last week my car has amazed me with it's performance and speed by beating a Turbocharged Integra GSR and then today staying with a Porsche Boxster S. The race between me and the Turbo'd Integra happened last Thursday on a kind of minature highway type deal here in Savannah which is about 5 miles long. We started of at about 50mph with me being around 2 car lengths behind him. I slowly gained on this guy and about 80mph I pulled right even with him, then as I approached 100mph I was about 2 1/2 car lengths ahead of this guy. We both shut it down after that. Now the race today between me and the Boxster S was a little unexpected. The guy was in front of me as I approached this same highway and he just kept accelerating and so I followed right behind him. He tried to punch it so he could get away, but he never succeeded. We did this 3 different times and on the last 2 runs we got up to 120mph and the he would shut down as it appeared I was starting to gain ground on the guy. Of course if we had been on a real highway and either of us could have gotten to run faster. I'm sure with his 162mph top end speed vs my maybe 140-155mph top end speed he could have slowly walked me. Now we did have a kind of scary moment on the last run as we both happened to pass a cop going 120mph; of course the cop was going the oppisite direction with no way of turning around. Close one. Anyway, I forgot to mention the look on the Porsche guys face which was classic, he just kept looking up and down my car trying to figure out how in the hell a family car just kept up with him. Maybe I'll meet up with this guy again when I get my headers.

Yeah I couldn't believe that I was staying with the Porsche. I expected him to waste me. But, I guess the 1Badmax is more powerful than I thought.

i also kinda thought this was fishy. i personally own a 95 gsr with a drag gen III kit on it. i ran a 13.6 on street tires at only 7psi. and believe me it pulls even stronger on the highway. how do u kno he was turbocharged?

Possible you were being toyed with? I'm not saying it didn't happen that way. It just looks like the boxster shouldn't have any real trouble there.

hahaha yeah i thought so too about the race with the boxter S, i will never be that gutsy to race them, because I know my role... lol. Just think if the Cayenne can smoke us, then what did you think we would have that chance with a Boxter S. Those cars are expensive for a reason.

I've seen this Integra before at the local 1/8mile dragstrip and I also know other people that know him too. Also he had an intercooler showing thru is lower grill and when we shut it down he pulled up next to me and I asked him what he had done. He told me it was a GSR w/ a turbo.

I don't think so. I saw the back end of his car kind of sit down when he accelerated. Also when I play with cars I know I can beat I usually let them get close to me and then smoke them or let them get even with me and just keep accelerating away from them. Either way he started off about 2-3 car lengths ahead and stayed that way. The most I may have gained was about 1/4 of a car length. So I was jolding my ground, but by no means was this guy close to loosing to my Maxima. I just think it's remarkable that I could hang with him for that long.

Don't get me wrong. By no means am I implying that I was going to pass him and I'm 100% positive that if this run had been done on a longer highway or some where that cops are not around so much. Then he would have walked right away from me. You forget that we've had Maxima's hit 13.8's in the 1/4 mile with the same mods I've got, which is what the magazines say the Boxster S can do. Basically I believe that with my mods and especially when I get the headers then it'll be a driver vs driver race. Unless of course the Boxster is modded also then all I'll see is his tail lights.

i raced a chic in a boxter in a 2-3 mile tunnel in downtown d.c. last summer all i had was the intake and my manual trans, whenever the tunnel would curve or get "twisty" she would creep away when i had to slightly let off the gas but when the tunnel straightened out i would get close enough to reach out and touch her A$$, untill another turn would come up again. gotta remember boxters cost because of the porsche name its still the cheapest porsche u can buy
