Got rear ended yesterday......

Hi guys, people have it out for our Maxs!! I left work yesterday at 3pm and headed to the gym, I came to a stop about a half car lenght behind like a 93-94 Cavalier and always by habit, I always look in my rear view mirror when I come to a stop at a light just to see if the person behind me is going to stop. ( Defensive driving ). Anyway I look in my rear view and I see this white 2000 Ford Taurus coming up on me doing like 35 mph! I said to myself Holy sh@* !! I tried to cut the wheel to the right and switch lanes but it was too late. WAM!!!! Plowed right into, never hit the brakes, pushed me into the car in front of me!! So I get out freakin' out on her. The first thing I see is the HANDICAP tag on the rear view mirror, and I say that figures! So I'm like screaming at her and shes like in her late 60s. I 'm freakin out because I was scared sh@*! and my adrenaline is pumping. So I ask her what the f are you doing? She says she was picking her coat up off the passengers side floor!!!!!!!!!! I was like WHAT? APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT!!!??? WHAT ARE YOU STUPID!!?? No one was hurt. Her airbag didn't deploy and neither did mine. The 3 high school kids in the Cavalier get out complaining of whiplash. I was like PLEASE! If you have pain , you generally don't feel it until the next day. About my Max, she sent my license plate flying and broke my rear bumper and reinforcement, no trunk damage because I think she went under my car. My left front bumper got messed up a little bit, but nothing major, just paint work I think. Car drives perfectly fine. For the force she hit me with, my Max stood up awesome for the speed she was going. By the way, this woman had more gold jewlery than Mr. T!!! I was planning to have body work done next week anyway, so I'll get it all done at once.
BEWARE OF THE Q=TIPS!!!! THEY'RE LETHAL!!!! KEEP AWAY FROM HANDICAP PLATES

Are you sure your frame is bent or something. Cause it sounds like she hit you pretty hard. Also, you gotta go easy on old people man. You'll be old one day too! Sorry, to hear about the accident though.

sorry to hear
Seem's like the Jeff9_SE's have bad luck being hit in the rear.

No sense in yelling at people though. Mistakes happen. I know I would get mad or upset, but atleast she had insurance.

Hey, I expect nothing less from a FORD

In this case the age of the driver seems irrelevent. She was not keeping her eyes on the road as she should have been. Stupidity happens at all ages.

However, I agree with tighter testing for older drivers.

I' ve been saying for the past five years that people should have to take their road test again at the age of 60 and every ten years after that. Most of the older people I see driving look so nervous that they can't operate a car properly. Plus their reflexes are basically shot.

Well, my 1988 Max was rear ended about 5 weeks ago by some dude driving a pick up truck who couldn't have been more than 30. He wasn't even picking anything up off the floor, just driving like an ***.

Yeah I agree, anyway, I did apoligize to her after I calmed down a bit, but I had every right to be ****ed off, I think anyone who gets slammed in the rear, would at first have the same first reaction. Although, she never apoligized to me for plowing into me and me someone else causing a 3 car accident, so I think she's the one who should be apoligizing.

I think you might have bumped your head a little bit harder than you think.

Because that would be admitting that it was her fault, which you could get on tape recorder and sue

Ahhhh, I see. I'll have to remember that next time someone decides to rear end me. Why can't people of ALL AGES pay attention when they drive? Everyone is so pre-occupied with everything else BUT driving. Cell phones, kids radios etc. If you have to pick something up, at least wait until you stop! People now a days, don't care how close you are to them, they're going to pull out in front of you no matter what.

No, the reason I asked if you had bumped your head was because that sentence made absolutely no sense at all. You really need to quit sleeping in English comp or provide a translator.

nah you can't give people a retest at 55. thats still pretty young. but even if this lady did get one of those tests (if they existed) it wouldn't have helped much. she was just being dumb to pick her coat off the floor.

That sentence makes perfect sense, what are you talking about? She hit me and caused me to hit someone else, what is so hard to understand? Read it 2or 3 times, maybe you'll get it.

You've got to be kidding me. You are seriously telling me that this sentence makes perfect sense?

Don't worry about it man. It was just an observation anyway.

Gjohnson is right, the sentence is a little off. But, I think he was just being funny, not being an ****.

Too bad about the wreck. You are lucky you were paying attention, or you probably would have whiplash. Blue Hairs need to be tested every so often, maybe every couple of years after 60. I get tired of hearing about them plowing into people. My favorite is where these old fuds keep thinking the gas is the brake and end up parking about three aisles deep in 7-11.

I have been pretty angry at someone who ran into me, too. I had a drunk guy T-bone my 72 Datsun 510. I was soooo close to punching his lights out. About every other word out of my mouth had either an f-bomb or something like "dumb-a$$" or "stupid piece of ****." He was so hammered, I don't think he even realized what was going on.

Car wrecks suck. Especially when you or your car is the victim.

Just make sure you get a nice new paint job out of the deal.

Yeah, I was definetly just poking fun, but the bottom line is sorry about the wreck.

That's okay, poking fun is always welcome on the org. I read so much of it. Anyway, I think I'm going to get the whole car done, I'll post before and after pics soon.
Thanks for everyone's condolences.
