I imagine some people will want to vote for their own custom jobs too, such as GAB and FC midpipe + JWT pop charger, etc...

Of course it should probably be "what intake do you have" since I'm guessing most of us only have used one intake, so most of us will just be voting for whichever one we have.

Set up a pole on which intake you have and then give suggestions, comments and experiences with them so us newbies will have a good idea of what to get.

injen is good but frankencar is better.

injen: smooth, quiet growl. sounds stock below 3k rpm. Deep at WOT. Lacks power up top. Best looking intake for a max. (tip: never get the bypass valve!!! its POS)
frankencar: loud, mean and aggressive growl. Monster at WOT ( a lot louder than injen). sounds "nearly" stock at low rpm. Pulls hard.

I heard that Weapon R is good too. Some people just question the reliability and effectiveness of the foam filter. I'm either going to get the Weapon R or Frankencar.

Yeah you really shouldn't have put frankencar up there, because its actually midpipe coupled with a name brand filter, like a k&n or equivalent... For example, I chose a frankencar midpipe w/ jwt popcharger, and it sounded absolutely awesome...

As you can see, the Injen and Frankencar are the only two intakes that anyone should be considering.....

I've had both and I would agree with this 100%.

Weapon R intakes have crappy components with crappy filters.

HEY!

where's the option for the "OEM" intake?

with it installed, you can barely hear the engine, and if you really want to hear that beautiful note, just wait until the weather is nice, roll the window down and rev her to 6500rpms!

I ran a 14.8 at the track with an "OEM" intake...

you can get them at your local Nissan Dealer. The service isn't that great, but they do a good job of installing it, and after they are done, the engine bay looks totaly stock!

The ported stock intake is the best but it isn't on the list.

The foam filters from Weapon-R really $uck. I had a weapon-r intake on my last car and the filter wasn't worth a crap. Just my 2 cents.

K&N

I have taken off the Weapon R foam filter and replaced it with the K&N rr-3003 Reverse Conical Universial Filter. i just kept the Weapon R Midpipe and Maf adapter and it runs like hell. The sound is incredibly awsome and I love it. Plus it's cheaper to buy the Weapon R Intake from Custommaxima.com and get a different filter then most other intakes.

Where did you get the k&n filter? I can't find a listing for it on their website.

Not sure if you are still reading this thread but if you are, did you ever dyno this setup?

Here's the link for those that haven't heard of this.

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....=ported+airbox

I'm going to try and set this up in the next few days. Hope I can remember where everything goes.

The ported air box or GAB with a flat panel K&N is the most efficient setup and the best one in my book.

The loudest by far is the frankencar mid-pipe with either e Stillen or JWT cone with a velocity stack.

The best looking one is the injen.

Low end wise, its place racing but not many have it due to the fact a hole needs to be cut.

just out of curiosity...for those of us that r using an intake w/ some sort of midpipe. When the engine is running, it vibrates...so, my question would be...since the intake itself is mounted onto the car and when the engine vibrates, would the part where the throttle body meets the intake midpipe rub against eachother to create debris that could enter the engine?

It is the best "looking" one, ill give it that much but thats about it. I dont even know why the Stillen/JWT pop chargers alone would be on the list when a midpipe would definetly compliment it
Flat K&N (aka GAB) got my vote though.

WoW, Very Nice Angel Eyes for your fogs!!!! How do you like it and how do they look close up? I would love to get them but am deciding whether I should wait to see if the same size comes out for a replacement or just do it now. Also how hard was it to install them?

I have an Injen cold air intake and it is the best, quality &fit and finish. Gives the car a sorta cool supercharge hissing sound and at full throttle you can really hear the enginge growl! 1/4 mi. 14.40@97 auto se 2002
