Spoiler Options??

Hey I was wondering if there was any possible chance of ever finding a stillen spoiler(the stock type except with the led) and if not what other oem mounting option spoilers are there? Thanks!

Dang!!! So, there's probably no way of finding out where that rear window deflector was purchased from or what application it originally goes to, huh?? And you say that your spoiler is from a Mitsu Lancer??? What year? And I can't tell if it has an LED brake light or not.... does it?

Well, already went to Nissan down here to find if they can still get those. But the company they used don't make them anymore, so I guess that was a good find. Also, my wing is from a 93 Mitsi Lancer, but the cheap version. It also has LED that runs most of the length of the wing, sorta like a Prelude.

HOw hard was it to mount the wing? I wonder if it would match up close to the holes that are already in my trunk from my oem wing?
Looks good!

I hoped you searched before you ordered it. Its not a direct bolt on and will require quite a bit of modification to the spoiler and the deck lid unless you have a gxe lid.

I have posted about this spoiler numerous times so I know its out there.

Good luck, I love the looks but its just a pain in the butt.

wow hmmm well i searched found and read your post. Kind of dissapointing that it is not oem mounting spec. b/c my trunk lid is rusted under where the spoiler detached so i went and bought a used(and cheap) se trunk lid so the stillen i got could just mount up. So basically you filled the holes by welding them then lined up correct holes drilled them out and attached it. What hardware did you use to attach it? also what needed to be fiberglassed?

You ask for spoiler options so I'm taking some pics to show you mine. The spoiler I'm mounting is a Kaminari one and it fits the stock holes.

The spoiler itself had to be fiberglassed because it doesnt sit flush with the trunk...if you set the spoiler on your trunk it will not touch in the center and on the inside edge of the corner pieces. The spoiler doesnt go to the edge of the trunk either...I had mine extended to the edge though...I also had mine raised just a tad in the rear.

I did weld my trunk up and re-drilled the holes but that trunk was rusted so I decided to go ahead and get a GXE trunk.

it comes with all the mounting hardware...the only problem is on the corners you have to drill a hole in the bottom of the trunk (about where it hits the weather stripping) for the bolts so what I decided to do with the GXE trunk lid was just bolt it in the center and use a good adhesive tape on the outer edges. I am pretty sure that will be fine since the wing is ridged instead of flemsy like the factory one.

If your going to take it to a shop anyway then its not a big deal...you can just pay them extra to finish out the spoiler and weld, re-drill holes for the mounting.

Ah, your so mean!! Anyway, no picture, just memory, picture your stock hood, now indent it fom the middle of a birds eye view. Take the indent straight out to the end of the trunk. So when you look at it from a rear veiw of the car, it looks like a a flush wing, or a wide mouth for the trunk! A couple people back in like 97-98 there was a couple a maxes around my way with them!!

There's no third brake light on that spoiler so you would have to keep the one behind the rear view mirror, and that looks really goofy. By law I think you are required to have a third brake light.

I see alot of kids put on a spoiler with LED and never remove the third brake light inside their car. It just looks out of place.

Nah, fall back. I got a ticket about 2 months ago for having a faulty 3rd brake light. I went to fight the ticket. The lady stated to the officer that issued the ticket to me that it is only required by law to have only one working brake light!! It felt real good!! Cop Felt STUPID!! and ****ED!!

Hey Drrrive, thats true. Down here in New Zealand u can have a spoiler w/o a 3rd light, but u can't have both the window & the 3rd light going at the same time.

Besides Ed, I think that looks with both lights on at the same time... but that's just me.

Jay.... is the wing you've got, the same one that -shock211- has pictured in his post?? Just curious, cuz I gotta agree that one IS rather sweet. And I know I saw it on a white Max here at one time or another... I just don't remember WHO it was

i agree with seamax.
if i was to get the ww spoiler i would consider moving my third brake light up to the top of the rear window. i think that would depleet the goofyness factor.
but i won't get it anyway so i'll just stop talking about it.

I like the WW spoiler shown and would consider it if I didnt already have a stillen.

You can buy the led 3rd brake light and graft it in...or get one from a mustang and put it in the trunk...althought that would be more work and not sure how good it would look on the maxima.

Here is a link to a LED 3rd brake light.

I have the WW spoiler and it fits nice and looks good, but yeah the only drawback is the third brake light in the window, but i think i just got used to it after a while. I could move the light or something but it would be a PITA.

Hey...well im not sure if u can still get it, it took exxxxtremely long to get to me, but last fall i ordered the Type II wing from stillen. It's pretty much like the stock spoiler except w/ the LED in it....not the whole length, the normal one, it is also at slightly more of an arc than the stock spoiler, i love the way it looks, however i was told by the bodyshop who did it for me, it was one pain in the a$$ to put on, b/c the holes were a diff patterned and all new holes had to be drilled further towards the outside of the truck lid, and also he said it was a pian to get it centered, they did beautiful work and im glad i have it b/c i havent seen this wing anywhere around by me. Ill try to take some pics of it soon so u can check it out. and like i said tho, im not too sure if u can still get it from stillen, i think i remember hearing that they were going to discontinue it, due to the installation problems....who knows, i think u should check it out tho, its worth a try......rite?

p.s. my name is steve too
