HELP! My Nissan "POPS" into second gear.

Hello all. I have a 98 SE Automatic with about 64K miles on it. I bought it used about a month and a half ago with about 62K. Lately, whenever I accelerate, the transmission seems to "pop" or shift abruptly into second gear. So much so that the car jerks forward most of the time when I do it. The same problem occurs when I'm decelerating as well. If anyone could shed some light on this, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks for your time!

has your car been modified? a valve body upgrade would give you a nice firm shift into second. if you dont know if your car was previously modified, look for the clear bumper lights, intake, and look in your grill to see if you have a transmission cooler(necessary with a vb upgrade)

if all of your shifts are harsh, very hard, someone might have disconected your drop resistor(but i doubt this is it)

on a side note our computers will adapt to your driving style, if you are on the throttle rather hard through first and second then you computer will SLIGHTLY adjust with SLIGHTLY firmer shifts.

good luck

If the cars trany is still warming up, this is normal. But it should go away after its warmed up.
