How much would 225/40/18 Kumho ECSTA Supra 712 weigh?

Can someone please tell me how much 225/40/18 Kumho ECSTA Supra 712's would weigh? I am highly interested in purchasing this tire. I hear they are a good balance of price vs performance.

Thanks

Go to the Kumho USA official website. I'm pretty sure they list tire weights in their specs.

I had checked that site prior to posting this, and did not find the weight on there.

It's there.... you just have to click the Specification Data link.

In comparison to other tires of the same size, from what I can tell Ecsta Supras are a bit on the heavy side for a UHP tire. Toyo T1-S tires seem to be among the lightest.

Some of my research shows that the Toyos are the lightest. Check out www.toyo.com and they list all their weights. The FZ4 is the lightest. But the traction sucks from the reviews I've read. The T1-S is only a half pound heavier and the traction RULES. I've read some reviews that say they have better traction at the track with these Toyos than they do with BFG DRs. But let me warn you, they are expensive.

When i was buying tires, I quickly ruled out Supra 712s b/c of the reviews I read on tirerack.com. The Yoko AVS ES100 shined the most. Either those or Nittos. Good treadware, little road noise, very good traction, and they don't break your wallet like top of the line Dunlops, Pilots, or Toyos do.

But if you're concerned about getting the best street traction and the lightest tire... of course T1-S owns all.

Here are some sites:

http://www.miata.net/faq/tire_weights.html

The Miata site isn't working for me now. It worked last week.

Here's something interesting. I weight both these tires on my bathroom scale and they came out to be the same 36lb.

1) 3rd gen SE rims 215/60-15 Dunlop SP Sport A2
2) Rota Subzero 17 lb 18x7.5 235/40-18 Kumho Ecsta Supra 712

Soo.... 36lb total - 17lb Subzero = 9lb Kumho

I shoulda saved my shipping labels where they print the weight of the packaged tires. Oh wells. Hope that helped.

Don't you mean 19 lbs?

Those Subzeros are really light. In this case, light enough to compensate for the heavier tire. Neat!

Thanks for the information. However as Bman stated as well as other sources on the internet, it is the general consensus that the 18" x 7.5" subzero weighs 19lb (I was actually going to buy this wheel), and from Kuhmo's website, the 235/40/18 tire weighs 26.2 lbs. Therefore your total wheel weight is 45.2 lbs.

How is tire wear on the T1-S?
Thanks

All the stuff I've read about the T1-S, the treadware is horrible. I mean, it's just as soft as a drag radial and grips like one too. But if you want traction, then T1-S is the best way to go. If you want best bang for the buck, then check out Yokohamas and Nittos maybe.

Update on my 195/45R15 Toyo T1-S tires on my 11lb Millenia wheels. The total wheel and tire weighs 28 pounds. My stock setup weighs 38 lbs. My 17" Subzeros and Yokohamas are 42lbs. I have reason to believe my Yokohamas are 3 lbs heavier than Kumhos. But anyway, these VERY small and light Toyos grip just as well, if not better than my bigger, heavier 225/45R17 Yokohama AVS ES100s. So, just imagine the grip I would have if I got T1-S tires in 225/45R17.

oh. some corrections. The subzeros are light. The boxes they came in were bundled 2 together. So 2rims + 2boxes = 35lb as stated on the shipping label. Figure 1lb for boxes, popcorn, etc, so 2 rims = 34lb.

And you're probably right, that the rim/tire combo was 46lb. I remember it ended in "6".

I'm glad everybody's chippin in to help figure out tire weight.
